We enjoyed a lovely Thanksgiving dinner at Splashes. The restaurant is perched just above the beach with beautiful views and sea breezes coming in through the open doors. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. We will definitely be back!
Excellent food, breathtaking views , extremely professional stuff, and overall a great great experience. Will go back for sure.
Really great spot to celebrate a special occasion. You can't beat the view. The service is outstanding and food is delicious (even if it is is bit expensive?
Stunning restaurant, great food, excellent service. Unfortunately there was a child sitting next to us blaring shooting videos at full blast and the service didn't tell him to stop even after our polite request- what a way to ruin an excellent view and the crashing of the waves!
We made a reservation well in advance and to be fair, I think the rain impacted the staff's ability to accommodate our group of 5. As a result, we were placed at an outside table completely isolated from the rest of the restaurant and staff. Our party had to open and adjust the outdoor umbrellas ourselves so the sun wasn't beating down on our party. We waited quite a while for the staff to remember to bring us waters and only then did they help us with the umbrella placements. The view of the ocean was amazing but the food was so average. I ordered the margarita flatbread pizza and the halved cherry tomatoes on top were almost raw; maybe the kitchen staff can try roasting those with a little olive oil for future guests. The staff was friendly and they really tried to care for us when they remembered that we were outside. We were celebrating a birthday and they did bring our guest a complimentary birthday treat at the end of the meal which was a nice finish to an otherwise disappointing experience. This was a solid 4 experience on a 1-10 scale.
Had lunch on the first day of the new lunch menu, and the food was well prepared and very good. Only issue was that I requested an ocean view table, there were two available and they were not offered to me. The next random people who showed up with no reservation were shown those tables first. Weird.
After dining at Splashes for many years and experiencing fabulous ambience and great food, we were very dissatisfied with the food quality. It was on a Monday night celebrating a birthday but the day of the week should not affect the quality of the food. Chicken was dry, scallops were not edible and the fish dishes were edible but not great. Servers were attentive but understaffed. New chef???? It certainly was not the same great food we have come to expect over the years of dining there. Hopefully the quality will improve and return to its former glory. The lobster bisque, salad and cream brûlée were very good!
We enjoy Splashes for the outdoorseating next to the glass for a beachside/surfside view ...always beautiful. The cuisine was excellent, as usual. Special shout-out and thank you to Alberto for his friendly, attentive, and efficient service as our waiter.
Splashes is amazing on all levels. We love it there. Our waiter Patrick provided exceptional service and made my sister in law's birthday such an incredible experience. Food was delicious and the crashing ocean waves provided the best ambiance.
I want to start by saying The Surf and Sand Bar is our happy place. My wife and I fell in love with Laguna and bought a place there after frequenting the S&S for holiday getaways. As locals we frequent the bar, my wife and I love the view, we play cards, enjoy a nice lunch with superb cocktails and/or wine. The bar is pricey and worth it with great service, it is our fun treat to reset a few times a year. We ate at Splashes for the first time since the remodel. The restaurant is light and bright, it feels more casual than before. It was crazy loud. My mother is 82, it was her birthday and she wears very high end hearing aids, she was struggling to juggle the volume. There was a huge table that was drinking heavily blowing out the acoustics. We ate brunch, the food was very mixed. The drinks - coffees, ice teas, wine - came out haphazardly. One was forgotten. The delivery of the food was very high end, two servers with a precision presentation, putting plates down with flair. But my tomato salad with grilled shrimp and burrata was bland. Tomatoes were mealy, three small shrimp were overcooked, the burrata was dry and the sauce was trying to be fun, but the whole peppercorns blew out the balance. The truffle fries were served cold. The blend of servers cleared our plates while some were still eating and a few bites were left. The glass of wine was spectacular and the desserts BLEW OUR MINDS. They were over the top delicious, by far a highlight - order dessert. Everyone else in our party was okay with their food, but we had high expectations. We know you pay for the view, but we expected coastal fine dining and it fell flat. It felt like a place that is still trying to find their rhythm and figure out what they want to be. We'll go back in a few months to see if it gets sorted. I recommend eating outside with weather permitting, the interior is very loud.

We knew the view would be the main star, but the quality of food, as well as the service, was truly outstanding! We could not decide on which of the twelve appetizers to get do we got them all! The four of us shared the 12 appetizers (plus two desserts) and treated our evening like a tasting menu. The chef and server enjoyed it as much as we did. Some of the highlights included the octopus with white bean hummus, lobster bisque, the Harvison cheesecake, and the corn and crab risotto! The desserts were very special as well! See pictures! When the breeze hit a little cool but we didn't want to close the view of the ocean, the staff brought us blankets for our laps; a very nice touch! We chose a Bordeaux wine to accompany our dinner which was a 2015 La Grave which was an exceptional wine with great value as well. A lovely evening.
We had a beautiful lunch to honor my mother, it was a picture perfect day at her favorite spot in Laguna Beach!
Absolutely gorgeous venue. I wouldn't say there's a lot of value for the amount of money that you pay, but the food is good. Wait staff was great as well. Very polite. Wasn't overcrowded.
The location was easy to find, there is valet parking that can be validated with your meal purchase. The ocean view is stunning and the food is great. The servers are kind and polite as well. I definitely recommend.
Horrible experience. Loud, crowded, overpriced, tons of people taking selfies. This place used to be my favorite restaurant in Laguna Beach. Completely downhill since the renovation. Won't be back.
