This was our first time back to Splashes since the resort had been renovated. The ambiance was fabulous, the service was very attentive and friendly and the food was incredible. The menu is diverse, sophisticated California cuisine, with something for everyone. I would highly recommend Splashes for any occasion!!

I usually have an amazing experience at Splashes (food, ambiance, service) but sadly that wasn't my experience this last time going there. I was double charged for my meal on my birthday (a $300 dinner turned onto a $600 dinner...yikes) the charge is still pending on my bank account but that's still $300 that I'm missing in the meantime. I did call the restaurant and they were "apologetic" but I don't see myself returning and being able to fully enjoy my meal without having to worry, or I will make sure to at least bring cash with me to avoid this from ever happening again.

Splashes restaurant which is located in the, wonderfully renovated Surf and Sand Hotel, is just a marvelous place to have breakfast lunch or dinner. Overlooking the Pacific, the restaurant is bright and crisp and offers both inside and outside seating. The menu is extensive without being overwhelming, the service is excellent and the food moderately priced and wonderful, The restaurant is located on the lower floor of the hotel, just above the beach, so as you dine you hear the waves breaking on the shore and breathe in the fresh air of the Pacific. Absolutely perfect, a great place to dine whether you're staying at the hotel or visiting. (FYI, if you're visiting, remember to get your parking validated.)

The service is good overall but uneven. For example, the person who gave me a wine list had no idea how it works. The restaurant generously comped a birthday dessert for my son, my coffee as well as the two glasses of wine! Also, it's nice that they serve a sip of champagne at the start, although I wondered why another table got full glasses? And other tables also got a cup of soup starter (like an amuse bouche)? The proximity to the Pacific Ocean is fantastic, and the serve ware (glasses, etc) is very nice. The bottom line for me is the food. The cheese "appetizer" was not good. It was completely overdone as a cheese cake that did not work, too sweet, no crackers or bread. The pork "chop" was served in 4 pieces, and was tough in places. We both agreed, the food is much better at Sapphire.

This is really the only dining option on site at Surf and Sand resort in Laguna Beach. The entire property had a recent renovation and it really shines. Splashes offers breakfast, lunch and dinner in their dining room, patio and also downstairs in the bar. Some of the servers and bartenders have been on staff over 20 years and it shows in the outstanding service. For breakfast the steak and eggs is a winner, very tender. The breakfast burrito was very tasty and crab benedict seemed to be very popular. For the octopus app was nice and crisp with good flavor. The chicken sandwich was juicy and very satisfying and the fries were amazing. The space does tend to get very crowded at peak times and reservations are highly encouraged. The bar area is first come first served so you just have to wait for something to open up. The views are stunning and the sunsets enhance the beautiful dining room with warm natural light. If you are staying at Surf and Sand you have to try Splashes.. the views are amazing and the food is worth trying to get a table.
Staffs were friendly and the vibe was great. They have valet parking for the restaurant inside the resort. The seasonal-special lobster option is highly recommended. The view is great and they allowed us to walk to the beach to take photos. Overall great experience and worth the price for celebrations like birthday.
