The Halbut was amazing and I will definitely order it again. The service was excellent in every way. Be prepared to valet park right when you arrive in front of the restaurant.
We had a fabulous anniversary dinner on Oct. 5th. Loved the food & the drummer & keyboard player! The music was amazing & we realized we could talk & hear each other! We made a reservation for Oct. 12th for my best friend's birthday. The food again was amazing & service great! However, the singer was loud & her voice was nasal (like someone was pinching her nose) & she was so into her own singing using her arms; that she wasn't aware that she was annoying the guests! We asked our server twice if she could please ask management to turn down her singing. I felt terrible that the 4 of us, could barely talk & enjoy ourselves over the singers super loud whiny sounding voice. We almost couldn't hear each other. The music should never be so loud that the guests can't enjoy each other; especially in a tiny restaurant. Keep the keyboard player & replace the singer!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously terrible!
Was just magical. The food the music the service it was all exceptional. Taylor was our server and he crushed it. We let him drive the night his recommendations for the venison, the burrata for starter the Martini with blue cheese and olives. The salmon for my lovely bride and a wonderful light filled desert. Thank you to all the staff that made the night so memorable. Will be back soon.
The noise level was tolerable, but remember this is a jazz restaurant. The food was excellent. The chef Nick was outstanding as well as was our server. Just a fantastic night and I would recommend it to anyone.
Not my first time at The Drake, but it has definitely established itself as one of the best dining experiences in Laguna Beach and one of the best I've ever had. Exceptional quality from food, to service, to entertainment, to atmosphere. Do yourself a favor and experience it for yourself.
We had a fabulous time celebrating our 38th wedding anniversary at The Drake. The food and service were top notch and to finish out our dinner withe live Jazz music was the icing on the (cup)cake!
Great ambience cozy artsy with class.. Delicious food. Hostess Lindsay engaging and accommodating. Singer Dave great voice and band entertaining interacts with guests while singing. Overall, good vibes.
The Drake was a 10 out of 10! So much fun, outstanding food, great music and all-around good vibes! Can't say enough good things about this fun joint!
Food and service was excellent. Also, really enjoyed the live music - loud enough to enjoy, but not so loud that conversation was interrupted.
Incredible place ! So impressed the food was amazing. Music was amazing and drinks were incredible!

The Drake is always an amazing time... we had so much fun! We started with drinks at the bar (the bartenders are phenomenal, btw), and then delightedly were seated at a wonderful banquette with our favorite server Emily. Having great service can make a meal go from good to fantastic, and that's exactly what happened. Oh - and Chef Paul himself greeted us with our starter (the tuna tartare - sooo good). The venison (my usual) and ribeye followed - both excellent choices. The Dave Stephens Band was the evening's entertainment and their upbeat music added such enjoyment to our dining experience. I would be remiss if I didn't also mention The Drake's priority to giving back to their community. They actively fundraise for music education, and even provide an opportunity for patrons to add a little something to their bill for this ultra worthy and appropro cause. We can't wait to go back :)
We love the Drake and the food which was fantastic but unfortunately our server was disappointing. First of all, when she delivered the drinks, she had spilled half of the martini onto her serving tray. Also she couldn't remember who ordered what drinks. Second, not just once but twice I asked for ice with my wine and both time, she did not remember and had to be reminded. Lastly, when the entrees came, she or the servers, did not know who ordered what entrees. This is not the level of service I would expect from such a high-end restaurant.
What an absolute treat of a spot. Came here with the fam to celebrate a bday, and every single one of us left absolutely happy.
First off, the environment here is stellar. On one side you have the restaurant part (a bit small and narrow, but fine), and in the other was a more relaxed area with some live music. The restaurant side also has a video feed showing the live music, which was a big plus.
Now the food. Absolutely stellar. Some of the highest quality food I've had in a very long time. We all shared from each others dishes and were wowed by every single dish. The drinks were also very well made, if not a bit pricey for cocktails, but happy overall. Highly recommend the espresso martini.
If you haven't been here, definitely give it a shot. Will likely need reservations, but it's amazing nonetheless. You won't leave disappointed

Dinner date and first time in Laguna Beach. Atmosphere was great. Live jazz music. Good menu selection. Lamb chops and venison were both excellent. Spanish salad was not as expected for what we paid. Prices are a bit high. But overall we had a great dining experience at Drake’s
