Used to be a cool, local spot. No longer... Can we get the old owner & chef back?

Five Stars because my dear friend Valerie’s mom was the original owner of the Seahorse back in the 1960’s, her name was Yvonne Perry. She told us many stories about the bar and her patrons. Allot of famous people from Hollywood came down on the weekends from LA, including Bette Davis who had her beach house a block south on the ocean side down off PCH. Yvonne was one-of-a-kind and full of life and vigor!!

I decided to spice up my Taco Tuesday experience and ventured to The Seahorse in Laguna Beach after hearing rave reviews about it. And let me tell you, it exceeded all my expectations! I am 100% in agreement that it's the best taco spot around. The tacos were fantastic - fresh, with a wonderful selection of ingredients. I tried their Chicken, beef, and fish tacos, and each one had a unique and amazing flavor. The Seahorse has a limited beverage selection, offering only beer and wine, but they have some nice choices complementing the meal. It looks like they've transformed the "store" area into a live music space, making the dining experience even more fun. The night I was there Ken Garcia played and they were absolutely amazing.I was there with my nephew and niece, who also loved every moment of it. The ambience and vibe at The Seahorse is great - local and fun, making it a great place to unwind and enjoy good music with friends and family.A little bird told me that they host live music almost every night, so there's always something exciting happening here. I highly recommend giving The Seahorse a visit, and just so you know, the Trolley conveniently stops right in front of the place. So, even if you're residing in Dana Point like I do, you can easily make it an evening out and not worry about parking.

My recent visit to Seahorse Restaurant and Bar in Laguna Beach was an absolute delight! From the moment my wife and I stepped in, we were captivated by the warm and inviting ambiance and living room setting. Everything about this place exudes excellence, from the mouthwatering food to the exceptional service and unforgettable live entertainment.Let's start with the food. My wife and I eat a plant based diet. The culinary creations at Seahorse are nothing short of extraordinary. Each dish I tried was a culinary masterpiece, bursting with flavors that left my taste buds in awe. The menu offers a wide variety of options, catering to various preferences and dietary requirements. Whether you're a seafood lover or prefer something from the land, Seahorse has something to satisfy every palate. Their commitment to using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients is evident in every bite, and the presentation is simply exquisite. But what truly sets Seahorse apart is the exceptional service. Cameron, our bartender/server, went above and beyond to ensure that our dining experience was unforgettable. Their attention to detail, friendly demeanor, and genuine passion for their craft elevated our evening to a whole new level. Cameron's knowledge of the menu and their expert recommendations made us feel like valued guests. They anticipated our needs before we even realized them and made sure that every aspect of our dining experience was flawless. Kudos to Cameron for their outstanding professionalism and impeccable service!Adding to the magical atmosphere was Jason, the talented guitarist who provided us with fantastic entertainment throughout the night. His soulful melodies and skillful playing created an enchanting ambiance that enhanced our dining experience. Jason's ability to set the perfect mood with his music truly added an extra layer of charm to the already wonderful atmosphere at Seahorse. It was a delightful surprise that left us thoroughly entertained and even more appreciative of the attention to detail the Seahorse team puts into creating a truly memorable dining experience. The Seahorse Restaurant and Bar in Laguna Beach is a hidden gem that deserves recognition for its exceptional food, remarkable service, and fantastic entertainment. Whether you're seeking a romantic dinner, a gathering with friends, or a special occasion celebration, Seahorse is the perfect choice. I can't recommend this place enough, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit! If you're in Laguna Beach, make sure to pay Seahorse a visit. You won't be disappointed

Stale food and poor barista. Stopped in - first time - Sunday morning Jan 29. Ordered a macchiato and, when the barista looked a bit confused I told her, 2 shots of espresso with a bit of foam on top, no milk in it. I also ordered a cinnamon pinwheel. Several minutes later - there was only one other couple in the cafe and they already had their coffees when I walked in - the coffee arrived - a large latte in an equally large mug. I took it back, confirmed it was a latte and again asked for a macchiato and again described a macchiato. Barista - ever pleasant - said, sure. Several minutes later she brought over another latte but this time with a bit of foam on top. I thought, oh well. I then attempted to tear a small piece off the pinwheel and discovered it was stale, so much so that it was as hard as the crust on a very hard French roll. That’s when I decided to just leave and never go back. When the owner is willing to serve stale pastries and doesn’t train the barista how to make a simple macchiato, that’s not the place for me. One star instead of zero because the barista was very pleasant.

Seems new management have sucked the life out of the place. General store and coffee shop no longer exist. Not even open during advertised hours.

Looks like one of our local watering holes in going through a period of adjustment. Menu changes, out of many wines and a poorly cooked meal. Service was great, from all staff members.

Breakfast was delicious. They have a piano player too. Chai Latte was really good. Lounge in back for evening drinks. Will look into going here for dinner. 2 blocks away from Sonder.

Owner treated me with deep disrepect, telling me to leave and get out. Merely for mistakenly touching his water bottle, when getting water for myself was a confusing endeavor. Then the owner, African-American gentleman who was drinking copious amounts of red wine, told me I did not order anything and am lounging around. Then a staff member told me it was like I touched his hydroflask water. I needed to stay to support my musician friend Lele Rose Denik, so I ate my tacos and then left for uber luxury safe Montage Resorts. I had the option of bringing in a Laguna Beach police officer for peaceful discussion, but chose not to.
