The coffee shop in town, with some quite pricey baked goods. They do make a good cup of tea though

We got the chocolate cake and chocolate chip cookies… they were so good we went out of our way to come back the next day and get it all again! Yum!

We stopped in quick to pick up some baked goods while camping nearby. The chocolate chip cookie & the chocolate cake were both perfection. Absolutely worth a stop in!

Great stop for a late lunch - while it was a tad slow in getting order in, food was excellent! Was an eclectic mix of locals and travelers. I had a side salad (super fresh & good), hubby had a cinnamon roll and Kid’s shared a fresh made sandwich with fries. We got an extra cinnamon roll to go & wished we would have had a few more than 1 - super good!

Great placeto eat. They make their own bread and bake goods. The staff are a army of one and greatly appreciated.

We were acknowledged as we entered. It’s a small place with freshly baked bread and other baked goods. Coffee is great. Friendly lady in front with big smile. (11/29)

Small town diner - extremely popular. We bought a day old sandwich (half price) but I also wanted French fries. The wait was worth it - delicious. Sandwich was also good turkey avocado. We were charging at the Superchargers nearby.

Bad service at least for me. French toast was ok. Coffee was bad. Charging $4 for blueberries on my French toast was criminal.
I usually don’t attribute general bad behavior to “race” discrimination but this place did feel weird. Or they aren’t fond of travelers. I like to give the benefit of the doubt for a serious accusation but I’m inclined to say it was discrimination.
Starting with entering. No attention. I just hung around the counter for a few minutes as the servers moved around and did their thing. A simple “ I’ll be with you in a minute “ would’ve sufficed. Then one of them asked me dining in or takeout I said dining. She said just one? I said yeah. She said a quick “anywhere is fine” and left.
Next I ordered a coffee and said can I get it in a ceramic mug. (Many cafes serve coffee in a paper cup even for dining in so I mentioned that assuming they’d do that. “.
And she had a confused expression as she was walking away like she didn’t understand what I said. So I asked “do you serve in ceramic mugs or paper cups “ and she just gave me a blank stare as she walked away and came back with a coffee in a ceramic mug. Ok sure you serve in ceramics but you can just say that.
So the waitress just asked me if I have decided. I said yes and ordered the French toast. Then the two tables next to me filled up and the waitress gave them menu cards and immediately told them today’s specials. One was banana strawberry pancake. I wanted that. I didn’t know it was on the menu. So a few minutes in I asked her if I can change my order to that. The waitress said “No. yours is coming right up I just gave up bring out yours and theirs “ pointing to another group.
It was at least 10 minutes after that that mine came out when she caught me looking at her while she was tending other tables. And it was at most warm.

Overall understaffed with just two waitresses and not at all attentive. No smile nothing. While they made small talk with others.

The woman behind the counter was fine, attentive and all.
Bad experience for sure.

The beef dip sandwich was great, veggie breakfast wrap was reported to be good, onion rings are the smooth battered kind I prefer. No dogs even on the patio, but you can order to go and sit at one of two picnic tables next to the parking lot across the alley. Even with a full house and only one server, it didn't take terribly long to get our food.

Kid-friendliness: Has a kids' section on the menu

The cinamon roll with walnuts was delicious. I normally get a hot coffee and a bakery item on my way to work. Thank you for the quick and courteous service.

Busy busy busy! Lovely place with kind staff right at the base of Alabama hills leading up to Mt Whitney. Awesome spread of breakfast with efficient but patient service. Will be stopping here again for sure next time we’re in lone pine!
