This is a very basic taco truck that takes cash only, no seating, only carry out. But the tacos are amazing. I had four tacos, one chicken, two pork, and one beef. These tacos were my last hot meal before a backpacking trip in October of 2022. The food was so good that I though the bears would be smelling it on me and come around the camp site later that night.

We passed by this food truck in an empty lot that was at least a quarter mile south of the main stretch of Lone Pine. We were looking for a quick, simple dinner before our Whitney summit attempt. The menu is hard to navigate, since there is no apparent logic to the sequence or color coding of entrees vs various options for each item vs extras, or drinks. We spent quite a bit more than expected simply because we added avocado to our burritos. The burritos were large, at least three quarters full of rice with one line of cheesy pinto beans. As we waited for the food, a man walked across the street from the gas station and asked if we would buy him rice and beans, and then started asking for meat add-ons. I ended up sharing one burrito with my spouse, who also had two tacos, and this was plenty for dinner. If I returned, I would be more prescriptive about what I want (less rice, more beans and cheese) and exclude the pricey add-ons.

Food was alright. Very hot which is great. I ordered chicken tacos and chicken mulitas. The chicken tacos were huge, not the standard street taco. Couldn't finish eating them. Chicken was super salty. The chicken mulitas were good. Seems like the tortillas are handmade which is super nice. It was nice and crunchy which I love. My one complaint is that the chicken was super salty and didn't have enough cheese. I'd like to have a cheese pull. It also came with cabbage and cucumber(?) in the mulita which is something I've never seen before? Not authentic but it was ok I guess. Tasted more like pupusas which the cabbage tbh. I also wish the chicken had more flavour. More flavour and less salt would've been great. The sauces are ok. The green jalapeño sauce was good but very watery. Use less water to make it thicker. The red sauce was alright. Not spicy which I prefer more spice. The avocado sauce tasted weird imo so I was slightly disappointed. After eating the food, I did get a stomach ache (not sure if it's the food or the amount of salt I consumed) and woke up with an upset stomach. Not sure if I'll eat here again. If they used less salt and didn't get an upset stomach, I would've rated it higher. I've definitely had better though.

Where did the truck go???? The lot they used to park on is fenced in. I only pass through Lone Pine 2 or 3 times a year, and I always get carnitas tacos from this truck when I pass through.I was so desperate to find the truck after passing through the city a few times that I stopped at the Sheriff Substation and asked them where the truck went. One of the deputies told me he wasn't sure where the truck is now (maybe Independence? he said he noticed a new truck there recently), but that the lot got fenced in because a trucker leaving the lot hit or got hit by a passenger car, killing the driver in the car. Quality Inn, who owns the lot, decided to fence in the lot to reduce future liability a few months ago.This truck's carnitas tacos are so good that I literally plan my backpacking trips in the Eastern Sierra around being sure I can get tacos on the way there and back (I'm from San Diego, so I get plenty of opportunities to get good tacos). The carnitas here are just spectacular.Los Plebes, where did you go??

Good food I stopped there all the time. It might not be pretty, but it's perfect for someone with a large vehicle like a semi truck or motorhome.Vegetarian options: Yes they have vegetable burritos and other food.Parking: Large parking area for semi trucks and motorhomes.

I will stop here for food eveytime I drive by. By far this guy makes the best carnitas tacos I have ever had. I always feel like driving through Lone Pine for the lack of good food options on my trip days.I live 3hrs away and drive past L.P. 4-6 times a year so I'll be getting Carnitas Tacos and trying out some of his other options.Please don't drive past this, I'm hoping his business stays busy enough to be there for ever.Kid-friendliness: It's a food truck in a clean parking lot.

Firstly, I'm having a good day. I ordered red meat (carne asada) and seasoned pork tacos (adobada). The tacos were well served and delicious. Service was exceptional. I put in my order, 10 mins later got my food, ate, then paid. The atmosphere was fine, I waited in my car, listening to music and looking at my next destination ?Vegetarian options: Not sure. But you cas ask.Kid-friendliness: Its a huge dirt lot where semi trucks park but is not litter with trash.Wheelchair accessibility: Dirt parking lot.
