I wasn’t planning to visit Pico.
I was on my way to watch a rocket launch along the California coast and happened to stop in Los Alamos for lunch. It was a Wednesday afternoon, and most of the restaurants and shops in town were closed. Pico was one of the few places still open, so I walked in simply looking for something to eat.
What I found was completely unexpected.

Pico Los Alamos offers a charming dining experience with both indoor and outdoor seating options. The attentive and knowledgeable staff is highly praised, with one standout member deserving of a promotion to server. However, recent reviews mention that some food portions are small, and some dishes may be tasteless and very salty. The service is generally praised, with attentive and polite staff, and the bathroom is described as clean and high-end.
