This place smells awful when you walk by it for some reason. Not in a pungent way like something has gone bad or anything, but the coffee smell wafting from it is like no other coffee shop I’ve ever walked by as even the coffee smell coming from it, which is usually so inviting and almost intoxicating, even smells off. I should’ve taken this as my first warning sign before trying this overpriced hipster spot that must only be for appearances and instagram because of the “aesthetic”, which is neither friendly, warm, or inviting. I paid 11 dollars for a vanilla latte, and it was the worst latte I’ve ever had in my life, with coffee grounds in it and big chunks of vanilla or something in it that made it very unpleasant. I left regretting ever stepping foot in there and felt robbed of my 11 dollars lol So yeah this is a purely hipster spot that charges more than every other cafe on the block and has the worst tasting coffee. Just go to Civil Coffee down the street or La Monarca if you want a nice iced coffee, latte or what have you. Also the staff were very like cold and seemed so robotic and disinterested, so yeah never coming here again and I see this place for what it truly is: a hipster trap 🪤

May be they can work on the price to not charge too much for a single pastry.. but it’s clean, pretty, verity of drinks and honesty a kind of place that the neighborhood needed!
The egg and cheese breakfast burrito is just yolk not even scrambled eggs which i found gross and for $15 is ridiculous

I go for the iced lattes, but stay for the friendly service. Pastries are always fresh and delicious. The cafe is so clean and pleasant. Its my go to spot coffee and food. The bagels are the best in town!

My favorite matcha latte in LA. I’ve tried dozens of other places and none of them compare…
Download the app. It’s the best way to order imo
And the staff are wonderful. Thank you Alfred!

Alfred Coffee understood the assignment. Strong coffee, cute spot, and instant mood upgrade. 10/10 would let them control my caffeine intake again.

Only two groups in front of me and I was waiting at least 20 minutes. For the high price, the amount of time waiting is not worth it. You're paying even more with all the time you have to wait. Somehow places like Civil that are packed get their drinks out reasonably.

A nail in the coffin. There is so much amazing coffee in Highland Park, why would you go here?

Coffee is ok. Service is very slow, even when they are empty. Feels like the place needs a management reboot.
Really not impressed in the least with the coffee or the pastries--just overpriced mediocrity. I'd rather go to Antigua; cheaper, better and legacy.

I have my pic of coffee shops in highland park. I went to Alfred because it was near my work place. It only took visits before I was greeted by name when I walked in. That has never happened to me before. I felt like norm from cheers. The more I went, I was greeted warmly by all the staff and even the new staff. After a while, the coffee was just a bonus. Come for the coffee, stay for the vibe.

Picked up an uber eats order . The barista seem overwhelmed and there was this chubby girl that just told her to breath and get them out as fast as possible instead of helping . Thought she could of handled it better
