Amara Kitchen is the hidden gem of NELA. I recently spent several weeks back home and discovered this amazing little restaurant. I tried both their breakfast and lunch food items as well as their coffee. You should definitely put this place on your list of places to eat in highland park.

I went in today to have breakfast with my family. We ordered Vegan Sandwich & Grilled Chicken Burrito. Vegan Sandwich was nothing but sweet potato and avocado in between bun and few rocket leaves on side. Grilled chicken burrito lacked taste and flavor. We spent more than $40 and I wouldn’t even pay $10 in total for both. It looked it to me that the owner is charging these exuberant prices to cover the rent and probably since it’s LA. Please save your money and only visit in case everything is closed.

Got breakfast burrito and vegan breakfast burrito. I'd say the vegan one was tastier. There are a lot of way bigger breakfast burritos in LA. These ones were okay. They came with a sauce, when imho I think salsa would've been better.

Such a cute place and the food is fresh!I ordered an item that was tasty, but I didn’t care for it. I took it back and they were so nice about it!!! AND I looked at other peoples orders and that all looked very good — fresh vegetables, vegan offerings, etc.

I came to this place twice in one week because their food is straight up delicious. I had the spicy quinoa bowl with chicken - healthy, full of flavor and made with fresh ingredients. The place itself looks a little run down, feels like an elementary school in fact. That aside they have great food and coffee, and a friendly vibe. PS- and maybe this is a good thing, No FREE WIFI, which means people are not using it as their office.
