Best burger I’ve ever had. Was in the area and looked at some lists for can’t miss places with Amboy coming up. No line like the chicken place next door but this burger was so good I’m glad there wasn’t one driving me away. Will make the special trip any time I’m remotely close by. Absolute perfection.

This place has one of the best burgers I’ve had in my life. Vibes are great, service very friendly, but things like chilis on the side ringing up as $3, or the double cheeseburger itself costing over 20 bucks, was just too wild to fathom here. My total was about $42 after tax / tip for a single cheeseburger, double, one order of garlic fries and a water. Outdoor seating was nice thanks to the decent weather.Still worth the 5 stars, but will be some time till I come back.Vegetarian options: Essentially none

This is my 100th time dining Amboy. I have to say these burgers are fire!!! I hardly give 5 star reviews and there's A reason why this place gets it. There staff Is consistent and friendly and they make great burgers every time. Just had the DH for the first time and check it out the burgers have a good crust, the burger is dry-aged, the buns holds the burger without falling apart, and the provolone cheese, carmelized onions, pickles and garlic aioli make this burger absolutely delicious. And one more thing these are seasoned to perfection! I met the owner today for the first time and he even asked how I liked it! What a nice genuine gentleman.

Gave them another chance because the Chester with a side of cheese sauce is orgasmic. Worth the 4 stars.

Wow! Wow! Wow! I had this bookmarked for what feels like years and now wish I had gone much, much sooner. It's a burger joint. You can also get a grilled cheese or hot dog, but if you come here get the burger. Located in the same busy DTLA Chinatown mini mall that the original Howlin' Rays is situated in, I assume parking is a general nightmare on weekdays and weekend nights. We went on a Sunday night, so parking was easy actually on the street. The place itself is tiny. There is what looks like an old fashioned butcher counter and maybe three tiny tables inside. Outside there are a few more tables. Even on a Sunday night, they had a good amount of business, which makes sense considering what high quality burgers these are. Now, I have mentioned this in other reviews, but I am sick and tired of the latest trend that will not quit - smashburgers. So, I've been searching for good, old fashioned diner or steakhouse thick burgers. Well this is the place. They do offer smashburgers, but they also have Slim Thicc's which are 1/3 of a pound not smashed. They also have a DH which is 10 ounces. We got three Slim Thicc's and an order of fries. An order of fries is maybe enough for 1 1/2 to 2 people. I would recommend two orders for 3 people. Two of the Slim Thicc's were Amboy style - both no pickles; one no onions; one no Amboy sauce which is like a thousand island. These were excellent. The third burger was a Slim Thicc fancy style which has provolone instead of American cheese and garlic mayo. This was also a huge hit. Next time, I'm definitely trying the DH, because while the Slim Thicc is a regular burger, I want that big thick burger, and the DH is that! Two wishes... bacon to add to the burgers - they don't offer this - and maybe onion rings. Otherwise, I wouldn't change a thing. Excellent food. I know this place has been getting a bit of press on Instagram from those influencers who try food joints, so hurry up before this place has a line like Howlin' Rays. Couldn't recommend higher. Run, don't walk!

A incognito spot very nice and clean. Staff was very friendly . I heard this place served one of the best burgers in Los Angeles I had to check them out for my self. I ordered a single regular cheeseburger and what came out surprised me a bun covered in sesame seeds. With meat cheese sauce and pickles. The bun was soft but the showcase was the meat lightly seasoned yet full of flavor. I can say after trying at least 30 burger spots in la that this my favorite burger in la. Highly recommend for all burger lover and enthusiasts

Absolutely extraordinary. Don't know how they acheive that flavor without a flame grill. Got a single Amboy style and fries and it's almost too much food.

The greasiest burger in LA. Had the worst heartburn for six hours after eating this burger. Since when is fat “quality”?

The gold standard for burgers in Los Angeles. Come with an appetite and order the DH burger. It comes in a few styles and they're all pretty amazing. The DH is ground dry aged beef. Basically what you would get at a fine steak house, but ground up and griddled. The other burgers are good too and their fries are near perfect (sorry, McDonald fries are still the best).

It's a whole in the wall burger joint in a plaza. There's some seating inside, but more outside. I ordered their special DH (dry aged) truffle burger. It's a huge patty. The buns soft and warm. The patty was Crispy on the outside and very juicy on the inside. It was a good burger, if your looking for just a big beef burger. If your looking for a traditional all American burger, you know, lettuce, tomatoe, pickles, onions, etc, this is not that burger. The meat was very flavorful, and did I mention juicy. So I finished my burger and did not feel overly full or heavy. It was good quality meat. It is a pricy burger at $27. I would say it's something to buy as a group and everyone try, but I most like wouldn't be shelling out $27 for another burger from here. I would try other things. They have smash burger options, etc. The frys are loaded. They give you a lot. We sadly wasted a bunch of frys cuz we ordered to many. They have a in-n-out animal style frys, and one with garlic aoli. But one order of frys should be enough to share for 2 or more people. I would recommend this spot if your looking for a good meaty, juicy, flavorful, burger. Just be ready to shell out some cash. Is it worth it? I'd let you decide that, I already said my peice. Can't say the best burgers in LA, mainly cuz it's so subjective, it really based on personal preference, but I can say, really good burgers.

One of the best burgers, if not the best burger I have tried in LA! Got the DH and the pattys were ginormous and super flavorful. I can eat a pretty decent amount and this burger had me stuffed! Would highly recommend to any foodie, burger enthusiast or anyone ready for a hefty meal! The restaurant is small, tucked away in a little shopping area near LA historic park. The guy working the cash register was cool, friendly, and not to mention Alvin Cailan, the mastermind of this place was casually sitting there and even made conversation, asking how we enjoyed our burgers. Will definitely visit again!

We got the DH Burger which is dry-aged. It was good, but not the best burger we've enjoyed on our LA burger-quest. At $21, I had hoped for better. The staff was very friendly. They've created a small patio in front of the restaurant and there are a few indoor tables.
