first the most important stuff: the food is excellent especially the pork chop special. french onion soup is also good. the service was excellent as well. the most offputting thing about this place was the smell. i don't know how to describe it, but it smells like a bathroom that's been cleaned with really pungent chemical cleaner. i dunno. this is something i don't complain about very often, so it's hard to put into words. that shouldn't deter you from eating here since it didn't seem to be a problem for the rest of the diners, and i stuck it out until the end.
I was lured by the high star ratings. I'm always up for trying someplace new to me but are 'neighborhood classics' especially if escargot is on the menu. The place is vintage and seems to have been there for a very long time and I'm genuinely glad they survived the pandemic. Many of my food adventures end up at these pandemic survivors. I order everything I want and tip well as a sort of silent nod of victory to the places.Service was very good, 5 stars. Our waiter was friendly and attentive but not intrusive. In my experience, only higher end places ($$$$) will pack food for you when you want to take it home. Our server graciously did the honors. For anyone reading this that manges or works in food service and you want to level up on customer service, do this.Another plus to my experience was the crayons at the table. I know they're meant for kids but come on. Who doesn't enjoy drawing while waiting? My (19 y/o) kid and I enjoyed a few rounds of the doodle game while we waited for our food to arrive. The vibe was definitely older adults/seniors at least in their 60s. I could see how this place may have been a dining staple for long-time residents for the past 40 years. They all seemed to be drinking and knew what they wanted. I don't drink so I can't say anything about the wine selection. This is the dreaded part of my review because I like to open with celebrating the wins. I came especially because I had a craving for escargot. It was my birthday and I'm worth it. ( ◜‿◝ )♡I know there are supply and quality issues globally and that they have affected all restaurants so I offer this review with the utmost understanding that some things are out of business' control. The escargot were not quite as robust in size or flavor than I'm used to. You bet I gobbled them up and sopped up every drop of garlic butter with the bread which honestly was just like a baguette I could've gotten from a wicker basket at a Ralphs deli section. Nonetheless the bread was a vehicle for the garlic butter. For dinner I ordered the lamb cooked medium. It came to me medium well but I didn't complain because I was so hungry and the texture was totally fine. The au gratin potatoes were very good. Four thick slices of zucchini and another 4 slicces of carrots gave the plate some color. They were cooked to the appropriate tenderness. They carried their own natural flavor but nothing else. The lamb, although a tad over cooked, was nice and tender. The sauce was wonderfully creamy but like the lamb it lacked a distinctive flavor. An herb, any herb, would have given it some interest. My kid had the special pork filet with mustard sauce. They liked it very much and offered me a taste. Potatoes and veggies were exactly the same as mine so win on the au gratin again. My kid hates zucchini but I can't help that. The pork was much firmer in comparison with the lamb which was a little surprising. I'm guessing it was cooked faster to get it in front of us sooner. The mustard sauce was nice but not as robust in flavor as it appeared.Of course we had dessert. My kid ordered the bread pudding which looked delicious but tasted as if the bread was the exact same Ralphs baguette in the bread basket. I wouldn't say it was bad, it was just ok. I ordered the apple crumble. The cobbler topping was perfect. Unfortunately it was baked atop what tasted like run-of-the-mill applesauce.Lastly I ordered a double espresso. It should have been at least 2-2.5 oz. What I got was a single espresso with the price of a double. Yeah I let it slide and I shouldn't have. It was my birthday and I didn't want to get confrontational and taint the joy I was feeling for just being alive. It was an overall pleasant first time experience but I won't be going out of my way to revisit. I do hope the regulars keep coming enough to keep the place afloat.

Booked as back-up for Valentine's Day 2023 because of all the rave reviews. The original plan is an outdoor rooftop dinner, but "you can plan a pretty picnic, but you can't predict the weather."A handful of tables at 7pm. 1 star: cleanliness. 2 star: friendly staff. There's nothing else to note. Cozy area with dated decor. Large mirrors on every wall, I feel like I'm in a fishbowl. The food is mediocre for that hefty price point. Either give me quality or quantity, and it missed the mark for both. My gf said the best part was the complimentary with individual wrapped butter.
A delicious and decadent meal is what you're gonna get at Cafe Beaujolais. It's a great French spot.

Fist time at this place after pandemic, very disappointed. Let's start with the decor, I still remember the cozy atmosphere of a Paris bistro, now the place is cold with cement floor, hard metal chairs. Then the service, ordered a bottle of wine, server was checking the tables, walking around, never realized that our glasses were empty, never offered to refill. Then the food, I ordered the steak with fries, I got a plate full of fries and a huge steak on top! How I was supposed to cut the steak with all those fries underneath????

Dined there January 8 2023...and the food especially my Salmon was excellent ?☺️Good Wine Great Service ??
I took my husband here for our anniversary and it was GREAT! The Food was cooked perfectly, the staff was very, very attentative. Our glasses were half full, and they would fill it up, our bread basket was half full, and they'd quickly fill it up. I have no complaints about this place at all. From outside, it doesn't look like much. It's a big black door connected to a small front entrance, as soon as you open the door, a French Man, greets you. You are taken into another dimension. You think you're in America, and within a few short steps, you travel to France for an experience you will never forget. All the waiters speak French, and English of course, it feels so unreal and like a dream. It's a little pricey, totally worth every penny though.Update:This was my husband's and I's FAVORITE place to eat when we saved up for it. We just recently returned, and it was a completely different place from the original. They must've changed ownership. Food was bland, not cooked well, service was not enjoyable. Definitely not worth the big price tag unfortunately ?
Parking: Parking is a bit difficult, especially if it's not easy for someone to walk, unless you drop them off at the front of the restaurant.

We love Cafe Beaujolais! The atmosphere is lovely, food is delicious, great wine selection and friendly staff. The live music on Fridays and Saturdays is an added bonus. We’ve been coming here for 20+ years. It’s wonderful for date night, special occasions and cozy mid week dinners when you’re craving a delicious meal.
