First time for my son and I at a Korean BBQ, so we were a little unsure how it worked. The staff explained and we were well on our way. All I can say is: AMAZING! ?. Everything was super fresh, cooked perfectly, and reasonably priced. 10/10 would recommend (it WAS a recommendation to us, so I should pay it forward, right?).

The experience was great here. I always love a good Korean bbq joint. It was definitely on the fancier side of ones I’ve been to. The prices were high but it’s LA so what can you expect. Get the bimibap if you’re not doing cooked meat. Our server didn’t really come back after she cooked our meat though, which was noting because my kids wanted to have dessert. We left and got gelato somewhere else instead. Lastly, the meat is what I want to comment on. It was heavily seasoned in something, making it not taste as fresh. I’m not sure how else to describe it other than that. My kids enjoyed it so all in all it was a good dinner.

#LosAngeles #KoreaTown #Chosun_Galbee #Chosun Galbi#Forever the #1 rib restaurant in LA in my heart. There are countless Korean BBQ restaurants in Koreatown, LA, and among them, some are top class.Currently, the most popular restaurant is <Kang Ho-dong's Baekjeong>, and the most luxurious and loved as a 'steady salad' is <Chosun Galbi> (although I understand that it has already closed down the business in Korea).I remember once hearing that <Park Chan-ho> was the meat restaurant he loved the most when he was playing for the LA Dodgers. Of course, I have never met Park Chan-ho haha.My family has been regulars here for a long time...I visited again after 7 years.#atmosphereIt has always had a very luxurious atmosphere. When you enter the store, there are large Patio seats, and when you pass by, there is a main lobby where Usher welcomes you. There is a full bar in the main lobby... I haven't seen any customers using it, but it seems to be half-functional for Yangju customers. There are spacious tables and seats inside, and the meat is grilled using a gas fire instead of charcoal.#roastThe first time I visited here was about 15 years ago. From then until now, the most delicious meat is <raw ribs>. Other all-you-can-eat restaurants or places that sell pork tend to look good but taste very bland, but the raw ribs here are gorgeous with strong marbling from prime-grade black Angus beef (but not a lump of fat). ) They have always maintained high-quality meat with a chewy texture and good meat flavor. Of course, seasoned ribs and bulgogi are not bad... but I don't like them that much, so when I come here, I only go for the 'raw ribs' haha. The aunts are kind enough to grill it for you (sometimes the customer has to grill it themselves), but the technique of removing the meat from the last bone is so brilliant... you can eat even the most delicious part of the ribs. I also learned that technique from my aunt here and am still using it.#Other dishesThere are many dishes that can be made in Korean food... I heard that 'black codfish forest' is famous. But the really delicious thing is <Soybean paste stew>. As it is a rib restaurant, the soybean paste stew cooked with rib soup is the ultimate in lightness, savory flavor, and umami. Since I lived in LA, I've come to the conclusion that no other restaurant can match the Joseon Galbi Soybean Paste Stew... but the taste hasn't changed even after this visit. I remember that 'kimchi stew' and 'galbitang' were all delicious... so I used to come here when I wanted to eat proper Korean food.#Cold noodlesThis was my first time eating naengmyeon since I came to the United States. My mouth watered over the stunning-looking cold noodles, and the broth was excellent. The right amount of umami, acidity, and sweetness went well together... It was calm and refreshing. It was delicious enough without adding vinegar or mustard.However... the problem was with the noodles. It was completely overcooked, so the noodles fell apart. I think they probably made a mistake in the kitchen because I visited early in the evening... (I've never had noodles like this before...) I was very disappointed that the cold noodles I had for the first time since coming to the U.S. had noodles like this. Instead, the broth was a hard carry, so I didn't ask for it again.#regular customerI have been a regular customer of ‘Joseon Galbi-Jeongjeong’ for a long time. (But this is not a selfish review)I visited this place again after a gap of 7 years. I still saw some familiar faces among the aunts serving me. Moreover, I was very happy that the owner recognized me. My kids have loved it since they were little kids, and now they are happy to say that they are cutting a lot more, so I was grateful for the owner's sense of recognizing regular customers.#SynthesisNow that there are a lot of good meat restaurants, it feels like its reputation has waned a bit...You are still the #1 me

i visited chosun galbee a few weeks back and had a decent korean meal at a more traditional kbbq spot. however, for what i ordered at least, i feel like the quality of the meat was not worth the high prices -- especially when you compare their prices to other great kbbq spots in the area food-- banchan: great selection of banchan to try, also enjoy the salad as well bulgogi: 7/10, the marinade flavor was great and i liked the texture of the meat itself, but for what it was, it was quite expensive. many pieces also had a hard, chewy fat with little tiny bubbles which i'm not really a fan of japchae: 10/10, it was a standard japchae with beef; nothing to complain about. very flavorful and delicious, and they give you A LOT too, which is great galbee tang: 5/10, i felt like this galbee tang was not my favorite dish. the shortrib meat was VERY tough and not very tender. overall, this was a decent spot, but i do feel like how how pricey it is in comparison to how some of the dishes turned out, i don't know if i'll be returning. i appreciate the good service though as well as the mellow ambiance that allows for good conversation!

I’ve had Korean food in Arizona and here in California. I’ve even had homemade Korean food from my mother-in-law. Chosun’s was absolutely delectable!

Used to go here a lot. The food is good but service here has gone wayyyy downhill. The restaurant was practically empty and we were being rushed out… at 8pm??? It really sullied our experience and probably won’t be going back soon.

Hostess: the most rude hostess in Los Angeles county. Was on her phone when checking us in. No acknowledgement and demanded us to sit down and wait even though our whole party was on time for our reservation. She is like this every time we go there. Food: expensive and given the bare minimum for the prices they charge. Waitresses: extremely rude, pushy and argue back. They were rushing to kick us out. Dumped all of the meat on the grill at the same time. Told them to not mix seafood with the meat and still proceeded to dump seafood on the meat grill. Argued with us about how many candles to put on OUR cake we brought. Charged us for togo boxes and gave us attitude when we said we'd pay. The only one star given because was to one tall male waiter who was kind and the busboys cleaning the grills and tables were excellent. Much better than the sassy rotten attitude waitresses. Ambiance: nothing has changed from the years it's been in business. Business has declined over the past decade and it makes sense now why it has declined. Went here on a weekday, no one there. Basically felt like we were being rushed to eat and watched by vulture like waitresses.

Came on a Sunday for lunch, thank goodness they were open on New Year's Eve! There was a wait for indoor seating so we went for patio dining, which was still spectacular. The heat lamp kept us warm. We got the Chosun Galbee, which is marinated short rib. Our waiter came with the meat and cooked it for us. All of the workers here were incredibly kind and attentive! I have been to many Korean barbecue places around California, and I am not exaggerating when I say that ChoSun has the most jaw dropping meat out of all of them. The taste of the meat is absolutely delicious, the texture is soft and bouncy. You can truly taste the quality of their meat; it is unmatched. We also ordered the seafood pancake. It is quite large and very yummy! Of course the meal comes with some delicious banchan, seaweed soup, and a sweet rice tea! Overall an excellent place if you appreciate quality meat, prime service, and sophisticated ambiance. They have valet parking available.

My wife and her in laws decided to try this place for lunch on NYE. They have a parking lot but it's valet. I found street parking for free right across the restaurant. There were 11 total (6 adults and 5 kids) so we ended up getting our own private room because the kids were noisy. We ordered the Galbee Prime, Galbee Choice and Bulgogi. The food was great but portions were small, we ended up getting an additional plate of bulgogi. We also ordered 2 soups - Yookejang and Kimchee Chigae. Both were delicious as well. Service was excellent and staff was friendly.

Unfortunately, this time, I was really disappointed. The most important reason is that the galbi we ordered (non marinated prime short rib, priced over $70) was not fresh! and its taste was nothing like I had in the past at this place. Also different from my previous experience were the banchan which were a limited assortment of mostly blah dishes. Potato salad that was not salted properly, and a few other dishes that were equally blah, with the exception of the cabbage kimchi and the cucumber kimchi, which were OK. We also ordered the mixed mushrooms ($33), which did not come as described in the menu!! Oyster mushrooms were listed but not provided, instead there was a lot of white mushrooms which were not listed! The third item we ordered was the Beef Tongue. The tongu slices were cut so thin, and in cooking them, they were easily burned and either way tasteless. For dipping there was only one: the sesame oii and salt, and the quality of the sesame oik was lacking as well. As for service, the waitresses, who were few for the crowd that was in the place, were surly and inattentive and service was slow. Needless to say, this may be my last time at Chosum, even though I started to eat at this place more than 30 years ago. I am wondering, was there a recent change in ownership or management or chef? Too bad it is not the Chosun of years past.
