The tacos can be a bit "fussy" but they're tasty for the most part, although they could use more seasoning overall. The one we liked best was the scallop taco, followed by the chicken tinga, with the chorizo coming in last (a disappointment, to be sure). Service is friendly but the food takes a while getting out of the kitchen. If you're in the area check them out. An interesting wrinkle: the sink for washing hands is outside, and not inside the bathrooms, no doubt to discourage local homeless from locking themselves in and bathing, lol.

I've had my fair share of good tacos, but none have ever topped the tacos I have received at this establishment.

Landing in LA for a conference, we were wandering near the village, hungry for something new. That's when we stumbled upon City Tacos, a place that quickly made me envious of every USC student lucky enough to have this culinary delight right on their doorstep. My initial envy, spurred by the thought of students enjoying these tacos on the regular, turned into sheer amusement once I weighed the costs of tuition against my taco indulgence. Let's just say, visiting occasionally felt like the better deal, especially with my wallet breathing a sigh of relief. The variety of sauces and the promise of a vegan-friendly menu had me intrigued from the get-go. The Avocado City taco was my first pick – a masterful blend of tempura avocado, coleslaw, tomato, onion, arugula, microgreens, all brought together with a creamy blue cheese vinaigrette. It was a symphony of flavors, textures, and freshness, all in one bite. And the best part? It was vegan-friendly upon request. As for the second taco, its name escapes me, but the memory of its taste lingers on. It was either the City Zucchini, with its crispy golden zucchini, caramelized onions, and a vibrant mix of cherry tomatoes, olives, capers, black beans, and corn, all crowned with microgreens and a tangy lime aioli. Or it could have been the Chile Relleno, a beer-battered marvel filled with oaxaca and cotija cheeses, topped with the fresh zing of arugula, tomato, onion, cilantro, and that unforgettable lime aioli. Whichever it was, it captured my heart and taste buds in a way few dishes do. Sitting outside, soaking up the fantastic LA weather, added another layer to the experience. The service was friendly, making us feel right at home despite the bustling campus vibe. Granted, the place could've used a bit more tidying up, but given its location, it was easy to overlook in favor of the overall vibe and mouth-watering tacos. In the end, City Tacos was more than just a meal; it was an experience that blended great weather, good company, and exceptional food into one memorable visit. It's a spot I'd recommend to anyone, student or not, looking for a taste of what makes LA's food scene so uniquely vibrant. And while I might not envy the tuition bills, I definitely envy the students their regular access to such amazing eats.

I had an exceptional lunch here today. Zucchini taco and portobello taco which were colorful and yummy and 10% off because it's taco Tuesday! And I had the melon agua fresca! This is my new favorite place to eat near USC. Don't be fooled by the basic fast food storefront. These are good sized creative healthy tacos!

Mexicali was fantastic! Chorizo Asado definitely needed more pineapple to balance out the greasy and heavy pork. The tacos are less bang for your buck than the burrito. Staff were very friendly. The dine-in tables were SUPER sticky, to the point where the bottom of my paper plate ripped off when I tried to lift it.

I really enjoyed this place! $9.85 for a massive burrito, totally worth it!! The tacos are also really good but the portions are small, so I recommend getting the Cali Munch Burrito because it has the better deal!

The food is great! Service is also really good and attentive. The restaurant is clean. Love those tacos and always am craving the cool recipe tacos they have. They're always flavorful too.

The tacos were great, and it's one of the more affordable places to eat at the Village. I'm vegetarian, and I appreciated the dedicated vegetarian section they had in the menu. Ordering 2 tacos is sufficient (about $9 with tax), but you might just order a 3rd to taste another one of their original flavors. Food came out fast.

this used to be my favorite taco place. Since the recent menu change quality of ingredients as dropped (e.g pescado taco no longer crispy, fish seems to be frozen and microwaved). Accompanying with a drop in quality is a drop in service attitude. Went to ask the counter lady about why the tacos seem different, was shoved off and ignored.

Eclectic and reasonably priced flavorful tacos located in the USC Village. You can enjoy seating on the inside while watching TV or eat outside on the sidewalk patio with high top tables and chairs. They have a small selection of beers to pair with your tacos or burritos.
