THIS DUCK.
The staff were very nice! They were able to comfortably sit and accommodate 10 of us (we made a reservation *duh*), we ordered roasted duck ahead of time (*duh* -- everyone that is mad about this doesn't know how food is made) but there was an issue with the oven -- instead we ordered x2 smoked ducks and it was so incredible we didn't miss the clay roasted duck at all!

Fried rice and a hearty soup followed the delicately sliced/table seared duck. It was incredible, and we were stuffed. We got beers and soju and spent around $42per person including tip.

I can't wait to come back, we will bring 10 more people.
THANK YOU<3

Roasted duck is amazing! You need to order 24hrs ahead and it’s totally worth it.
Their spicy soup with small intestines are surprisingly good, also the fried rice!

First time tried grill smoked duck and love it! The smoke duck is good for 4 ppl and their also have grill slice duck. The fried rice is also really good and the soup is a bit spicy! Good place to hang out with a lot of friends and drink. The servers were nice and friendly and will definitely go back.

People are so uninformed. You have to preorder the duck.

Cool experience for sure, and the staff is very attentive. My favorite thing was all the different methods of duck preparation. It felt like thanksgiving. Fried rice was fire too.

Really disappointing experience. We came here for lunch and didn’t even get the roast duck—just ordered two stews. The flavor was pretty bland, and there was barely any meat in the soup, even though each one cost $20.

The worst part? The place was full of fruit flies flying everywhere. It was so bad we couldn’t even enjoy our meal. We left in under 10 minutes and had to pack everything to go. The service was also really bad! the owner just threw the takeout boxes on the table without even looking at us. Definitely not coming back. 🙂‍↕️🤢

Best Duck of My Life — Da Rae Ok in Ktown is a Hidden Gem

I didn’t think I’d be writing a love letter to duck, but here we are. Da Rae Ok in Koreatown blew me away. I didn’t reserve the roasted duck (which takes four hours to prepare, so plan ahead!), but I had the smoked duck—and I swear to god, it was the best duck I’ve ever had. Perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy and fatty in the most luxurious way. Every bite melted in my mouth.

It comes with chewy noodles and a spicy, rich soup that ties everything together. Total comfort food but elevated.

Hot tip: Enter through the back where the valet is, not the front—it feels like a bit of a secret, which makes the whole experience even better. And seriously, if you’re going, make that roasted duck reservation because if the smoked one is this good, I can only imagine the magic of the slow-roasted version.

Da Rae Ok is officially my new duck spot. Unassuming, authentic, and absolutely unforgettable.

I was really looking forward to trying the clay roasted duck, which requires a 24-hour advance reservation since it takes four hours to prepare. I followed all the instructions: I called ahead, gave my information, and even specified the time. The person I spoke with (possibly the owner) had limited English, but I believed we had understood each other.

Unfortunately, when I arrived at the restaurant the next day, the duck was not ready. The staff seemed confused, and I struggled to understand their explanation. I even showed them the number I called, but nothing could be done at that point. It was incredibly frustrating and disappointing, especially since my party was excited for this meal.

The duck dish they ended up serving us was just okay, and the accompanying noodle dish was not very good. Overall, it was a sour dining experience.

I think this restaurant really needs to improve how they communicate the ordering process for their signature clay-roasted duck. It’s unfair to guests who follow the steps and still end up let down. I genuinely hope they address this, because no one should walk away from a highly anticipated meal this disappointed.

Amazing. The duck is offered in different ways. The spicy soup was also excellent.

Got the roast duck that you need to order in advanced (we ordered a day in advanced). For the 4 of us, we got this and the duck noodle soup, which I don’t think we saw on the menu but saw on Yelp.

Verdict: roast duck was good! Very tender duck, delicious and unique, although I wouldn’t say it was life changing and not sure it was worth $125. However, happy for this restaurant doing well as it’s a cute Korean mom and pop shop and nothing I’ve ever tried. The duck noodle soup was super good, recommend getting that. Flavorful and a little spicy, great way to end our duck meal. If we weren’t too full, we wish we’d try the smoked duck to compare. The banchan was good too but also not life changing.

We enjoyed trying flat croissant at coin de rue bakery and black sesame cream latte at cafe de mama next door, so it was a culinary feast just in this small block in ktown. Was easy to find parking Saturday lunch of Memorial Day weekend too.

Enjoy!

Come here if you like duck, period. Got the marinated and sliced duck, personally preferred the sliced duck more. The banchan, kimchi soup, and fried rice were all delicious to boot. I loved how unique the dishes are, unlike most other typical Korean restaurants. We got full, but couldn't stop eating once they brought out the fried rice- it was TOO GOOD and like no other fried rice we've had before. The waitresses were very sweet, and the owner was kind enough to talk to the neighbor store owner and help prevent us from getting towed when we parked in the wrong spot 😬 Highly recommend, but it's not cheap. But we thought the quality of food is worth it.

I was looking forward to have nice dining experience as this place is michelin bib gourmand. Went here for Mother’s Day family dinner and was very disappointed. No help with cooking the duck, and the service felt inattentive. When we asked for fried rice at the end, the waitress questioned our order as if we didn’t order enough to get fried rice. I guess it comes with certain menu only, which we had all ordered. We ordered 1 smoked duck, and 3 chopped/sliced duck for 6 people. Food was okay, smoke duck and chopped duck were good but sliced duck had freezer smell.

Nice traditional place, we ordered the 4 hour pot roasted duck, overall taste little bland not a lot of meat mostly rice and grains. It was advertised to be big enough for 3 people but it wasn’t enough therefore order more, although the price is pretty high.

ordered the chopped duck and sliced duck. no flavor wat so ever. service was bad and the restaurant forced us to order one bbq dish for each person which is $42+ per dish. would not come back again
