This spot was recommended to my family and I by a UCLA alum when i found out we were going to attend a women's bball game. I asked him what we should do while we were on campus. His recommendations were to see a few things on campus and hit Diddy Riese. WOW! 75 cents per cookie?!? And the cookies were GREAT! SHAVE ICE?! ICE CREAM?! Amazing. 10/10. Recommend! Will return!

Stopped by and the vibe was easy, no line when I went, which was nice. Prices are still very affordable, especially for the area.
The cookies were good if you’re just craving something sweet, but they leaned more on the dry side rather than soft and moist. Nothing terrible, just not that gooey texture some people expect.
If you’re nearby and want a quick, inexpensive cookie fix, it works.
Not a critic, just sharing how it felt.

I had not been here in years, still just as tasty, the price has gone up, but at least now they take card with a minimum of a five dollars
purchase. That helps!

This place is definitely a landmark for dessert in Westwood. You always see a lion statue outside the door. Their cookies are cheap and always fresh. They even sell day-old cookies at a discount. I love that they deliver, and my cookies always arrive fresh. I just found out they have brownies now, so I’m definitely trying one tonight — it'll be yummy for sure.

Diddy Riese Cookies is a true classic and an absolute must-visit for anyone craving a sweet, nostalgic treat. This spot is famous for its freshly baked cookies and those legendary custom ice cream sandwiches where you pick two cookies and sandwich a generous scoop of Dreyer’s premium ice cream in between.

The signature ice cream sandwiches are the star here: warm, chewy cookies hugging rich, creamy ice cream in endless flavor combos. From chocolate chip to peanut butter, white chocolate macadamia, oatmeal raisin walnut, and more, plus a solid lineup of ice cream flavors like vanilla bean, mint chocolate chip, cookies ‘n cream, butter pecan, strawberry cheesecake, rocky road, and espresso chip. The photos show the display case packed with tempting options—rows of colorful cookies, brownies, and that inviting ice cream freezer with scoops ready to go. It’s indulgent and fun to customize your own creation.

Everything is incredibly affordable, which is part of the charm—portions are hearty, and you get a lot of bang for your buck compared to other dessert spots.

The interior feels cozy and welcoming, with that classic red-and-yellow branding, menu boards overhead listing all the options, and the hum of excited customers deciding on their next combo.

The only downside of this place is that they don’t have any kind of seats. We had to stand there to finish the dessert. Most people walked away with the food in their hands. Probably they do this to avoid homeless people.

Also, if you’re not someone with a major sweet tooth, it can lean pretty sugary—the cookies are rich and the ice cream is premium, so the overall treat packs a punch of sweetness. It’s perfect for those who love loading up on sugar, but if you prefer something more balanced, you might find it a tad overwhelming. Still, the quality is high, the freshness shines through, and it’s hard not to enjoy the experience.

Update: Still a very basic, likely undercooked cookie. It's still good. The price is now $1.25

2023: A solid basic cookie, at a reasonable price, though they are now up to $.75 each.

We visited Diddy Riese today, and while we were standing outside looking at the menu, a man beside us suddenly approached and asked if we were getting ice cream sandwiches. My husband told him it would be our daughter’s first time trying one and that she was really excited. Then he told us he was the owner! He was so humble and friendly.

When we went inside, we saw him again, and my daughter was so happy checking all the cookies and ice cream flavors. She couldn’t even choose because everything looked so yummy! She finally picked white chocolate chip with rocky road.

When we were checking out, the cashier told us that her ice cream sandwich was free—the owner told him to give it to her. We were honestly so shocked and grateful. It completely made my daughter’s day and made the whole experience even more special. And the one she got was super yummy!

We’re excited to come back and try more flavors. Thank you so much to the owner for the sweet gesture! It really meant a lot. 🍪🍦✨

Diddy Riese is a UCLA classic! They make great ice cream cookies. They let you mix and match your cookie and ice cream flavors, which is nice. The cookies are not too hard so that, when you bite, there isn't excessive smooshing of the ice cream out of the sandwich and into the cup. There is some smooshing, though. I look forward to returning to Diddy Riese so that I can try even more flavor combinations.

This place is just not good. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money and go to Salt & Straw or another real ice cream spot. I can get Dryer’s ice cream and better cookies at a grocery store. Cookies were dry and crumbly and ice cream was freezer burned.
