Awesome little place. Their shrimp appetizer is bomb. Amazing tacos- would recommend the carnitas or carne asada. Great late night place with deals after 10pm most nights.
El Carmen has a nice ambience with plenty of cool decor to look at as you wine and dine. They offer a wide selection of drinks and specialize in Mexican cuisine. Funny enough, my date was the only Mexican looking person there, despite the restaurant being full. It’s more of a bar than a restaurant and I’m not mad about that. Becoming a go-to spot for friends and I! Decent prices, great food, good drink variety, and a unique vibe with friendly staff. Everyone’s happy to go to El Carmen!! One of the bar chairs squeaks like no other, though— If someone wants to take a look at that 😂😂

El Carmen offers a wonderful dining experience with a vibrant Lucha Libre-themed decor, creating a lively and fun atmosphere. The service is excellent, with friendly and attentive staff ensuring a great experience. The food is deliciously authentic, with standout dishes like tacos, especially the mushroom, shrimp, and beef tacos, as well as nachos and red sauce chicken enchiladas. Chips and guacamole are always fresh and tasty, and the margaritas are considered some of the best in the city, especially during happy hour. While parking can be a challenge, valet service is available. El Carmen has effortlessly aged into a classic LA mainstay, offering an excellent early bird menu and a great vibe, with unique decor, friendly bartenders, and solid drinks.
