Classic LA restaurant! The quaint original 1923 adobe-tiled restaurant is tucked between large downtown buildings. The food is mild and maybe more gringo-oriented flavor-wise. But a fun experience.

The food was not as good as the one on western. I didn’t like anything about it. Will stay at western!!

I was disappointed with this location. I’ve been to other El Cholo restaurants and had much better experiences. Our server seemed overwhelmed, as he was handling many tables at once, and it affected the service. We experienced slow refills on our drinks and felt some attitude when we asked for things.
The food was also not to our liking. We had to return the carne en su jugo because the sauce was extremely thick, more like a tomato paste than a smooth broth. The tortilla soup was very salty as well.
Overall, I’m glad I tried this location, but based on this experience, I would not return.

The restaurant has a more Americanized take on Mexican food, which may appeal to some, but it wasn’t quite what I was expecting. Many of the dishes seemed to use a similar tomato-based sauce, so the flavors didn’t stand out much.
The cocktail drinks were disappointing and lacked balance. The place got very busy, and unfortunately the service didn’t keep up, so customer attention felt limited. Tables are also quite small, which made dining a bit uncomfortable.
Overall, it may work for a quick visit if you’re nearby, but it wasn’t a standout experience for me.

Came in solo mid afternoon prior to Kings game. It's close to Residence Inn and the arena. I thought prices were a bit high. But quality of my margaritas and tacos were high. The salsa that came w the complimentary chips was kinda lame, but the chips came in handy scooping the rice and beans from my taco plate. Service was decent. Recommending the Al Carbon tacos.

My daughter and I tried this place and we were glad we did! The service was great! The atmosphere was great and the food and drinks were amazing! We ordered the LA Lemonade and the El Cholo Margarita both were really strong and taste delicious! I ordered the Chicken Chimichangas and my daughter ordered the Blue Corn Chicken Enchiladas. I’ve never had my Chimichanga cut in fours. That was a nice touch! We really enjoyed this place! I’ll definitely be back!……. Soon!❤️

I love it here and the vibes. The Cholo Margaritas are the best. The pitcher is the best option.

It wasn’t bad to be honest. Food kinda took a minute but the staff was decent. Not really much to say, nothing that really stood out to me.

Absolutely delicious! Authentic Mexican food that isn’t too spicy, with warm tortillas chips, and the best salsa ever.

We came here to escape the rain, and stumbled upon what feels like a hidden gem right next to LA live and the Pico train station. The food, atmosphere, service, and overall charm of this place was truly unmatched. So cozy, and full of heart. The food was well made, so flavorful, and just enough sauce! And if you get dessert, get the chocolate mousse cake!!

Had a decent lunch here- not bad, but nothing special. I was hoping for something different from what I could get at pretty much any tex-mex joint on the east coast but it was more or less the same. Good, but nothing stood out.
