amazing food and great service. one star removed for it being one of the loudest restaurants i’ve ever been to. if you have sensitive hearing i would not recommend this place unless they bother to incorporate some acoustic treatment to the dining room.

Walked in just to grab a bite and a drink, and walked out knowing every server, every bartender, every bussers, even some of the chefs names. The food is fantastic and still somehow manages to take a backseat to the staffs efforts and hospitality. Come for special occasions, or come to just chat at the bar. But come and come again

Not a excellent experience for us to try Dine LA.

This place serves the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. I knew it from the first bite. I’m 50. I’ve had a lot of fried chicken! Come here and get the fried chicken. Also the duck. And the carrot salad… probably some other stuff.
The signature cocktails are solid too.
I’ve been to my fair share of higher end Asian fusion restaurants in LA and OC and this ranks at the near bottom for their mediocre food and snobby service.
I could only describe each dish as mildly interesting. We ordered the recommended dishes such as the Sweet Potato, BBQ Cabbage, Fried Chicken, Egg Custard, Short Rib, and Duck Fat Rice. We ordered 6 dishes but the server recommended 8-12 for four people which is honestly ridiculously because that’s telling us to order the majority of the menu (There are only 17 dishes on the menu lol).
Servers and runners seemed like they hated their jobs and wanted to go home. My whole party felt like the service was bad and the server rubbed us the wrong way in many ways. When we asked for the bill, he immediately asked if we were going to split it, which was an odd question to ask first. We ended up putting all on one card.

Absolutely delicious! Ordered 9 items and 3 desserts for 4 people - umami with every bite and their fried chicken is to die for. Enjoy!

Review for the Orange Chicken Sandwich:
This dish felt unfinished. Chicken tasted re-fried, and the slaw was drowning in the orange sauce. I felt like it was missing a “fresh” element.
Ate way too rich, overall. Also $19? Too expensive for this level of execution.
Sadly, I won’t be rushing to try dinner service.

We ate at the bar and honestly the height of it was so distracting it took away from the vibe of the dinner. They need higher stools- my elbows were up to my ears trying to eat my food. Definitely book at a table and don’t eat at the bar. Food was good service was fine.

nothing short of spectacular. had an amazing foodie night there, our waiter tom put together a full blown chef's choice for us. 3 courses, wine pairings, dessert, digestive, the lot. chef anthony is doing great work, super interesting twists on chinese comfort dishes. everything was prepared to perfection, with great care for presentation and impeccable service.
i can't recommend this place enough and most certainly will be back as they rotate their menu seasonally.
have the cabbage. you're welcome.

Pricey for what it is. Some of the food was good, some of it was mediocre with weird flavors that didn’t mesh. Super loud inside, felt like I had to yell across the table. Food was at most vaguely Chinese, pumpkin came in a sharp cheese sauce and dumplings were not dumplings so much as dumpling shaped tofu chunks. Fried chicken was quite good though

I really enjoyed this meal! We started off with the bar menu as we waited for a table which was perfect bc the portion sizes were just right for our party of 2. Standouts for me were the steak tartare, duck, and ginger cookie. Yum!

French-Chinese fusion. Cool concept, and a cooler cocktail bar. Nice vibes, good for a date night. Some of the dishes were hit or miss, but the cocktails were really well crafted with interesting Chinese inspired flavors.
Definitely on the pricier side. Paid almost $300 for two people, however the service cannot be beat. The food was very tasty, the dessert to die for - we were disappointed they ran out of the duck fat rice. Other than that, I have no complaints and was happy I got to try First Born.

What a fantastic addition to Chinatown! This is a lovely modern and playful take on Chinese classics. Stars of the show were the egg custard (a nod to traditional hot & sour soup), tofu dumplings, duck sausage, chongqing fried chicken and the duck fat rice.

Fantastic! What a nice surprise. I’m used to new restaurants in LA being a bit of a disappointment. This one was fantastic and our server was super cool. The chicken is absolutely amazing. Everything else was creative and perfectly executed. A lot of times people do a bit of an upscale Asian thing and it doesn’t quite live up to the standard of what you get when you go to San Gabriel. But this place had the freshness and vibrant of that immediate authentic Asian experience combined with the creative flare of an original Chef. Reminded me of Heres Looking At You back in the day. Highly recommend it.
