this place was always empty yet when we went, the service was sooooo SLOW. the food was fine, nothing to write home about and it's an instagram friendly spot but I see how this place had a hard time- so much space, maybe too much?

Really tasty wines. Nice ambiance, I would not mind coming back and hanging out at the bar.

Great interiors. And a really nice menu. It’s an interesting take on the more normative american/french bistro menu. Creative vegetarian options. Nicely composed plates. Interesting flavor combinations. Honestly, it’s way more interesting than five leaves in brooklyn! Shhhhh

Atmosphere was sophisticated and intriguing; however, seating uncomfortable. Unique menu items-particularly enjoyed the Bavette Steak-just be prepared to Google some ingredients.

I've lived in the neighborhood of Five Leaves for well over a decade now and when it was announced the restaurant would go in, I waited with great anticipation. When it finally opened (years later) we went about once a week for a month to try breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurant itself is beautiful, and the corner spot is ideal but it definitely had growing pains. I initially gave it a chance (it's in my neighborhood!) but now I'll admit (after patronizing at least 6x's) that the service is spotty, the interior is way too loud (if you want to hear your dining partner sit outside) and it is $2-3 too much per dish and drink. The last time I went was with my family for New Year's Eve lunch (why not spend $88 for 3 to celebrate) but again the service was slow (waited at least 30 minutes just to have someone come take our order after I flagged it 20 minutes in with the manager). And for the prices and service, not sure I'll be back in 2020 - but probably, because I want it to do well. As for other dining options (Square One, Found Oyster and Mestizo for coffee) - there are now plenty - so, again, maybe I won't return. Hopefully 2020 is a new year and new decade for Five Leaves - hope you're here as long as I have been and experience success too! See you in the hood. Good luck! Sincerely - your neighbor.

Great service, great food, cute modern decor. Will be back with the bestie. We fell in love with the ricotta pancakes! Party in yo' mouth for sure!!!! A must!

Five Leaves LA has the best pancakes I have ever had - ever. First time I went, I got the gravlax plate - which was really yummy and everything you could want from a gravlax plate. My friend got the pancakes and was kind enough to give me a whole pancake. Wow. The pancake is perfectly fluffy and covered in this delicious honeycomb butter. These pancakes were so good that I went back exactly one week later to get them again. The interior of Five Leaves is really beautiful too. Parking can be tricky. Both times that I have gone I have had to circle the block a few times.

My co-workers and I decided to grab a few after work drinks here after passing this place a few times. So I can only attest to the drinks, well specifically just my drink that I ended up ordering three of! :o Drop a Gem. What a cute little name. But the drink? Delivers a great punch of mezcal, but at the same time, offering a soft palate cleansing feeling. Ah. I am definitely coming back to try the food, but of course paired with this magnificent gem.

Been here once before and the food is great. But today I came at 9:00am for breakfast and they weren’t even open yet when it says it opens at 8:00am. I saw two people that work there finally pull up and go inside but they still have not turned on the lights or make it appear open so I’m just standing here waiting even tho they saw me waiting.. Not a good experience at all.

I've been wanting to try this place since they opened but rarely go to brunch and that seems to be their specialty. I had some friends in town so it seemed like the perfect time to try Five Leaves. This could be due to the rain but for a Saturday at 11 am they weren't very busy and we got a lovely corner booth seat. The interiors are STUNNING with tons of natural light. Such a beautiful space! Most of us decided to try the ricotta pancakes and they were phenomenal. I love that they layer the stack with banana so you get fruit in every bite. The honey butter was the star of the show. The portions were large too I could have split them. Overall the service was great as was the food. I can't wait to come back for dinner!

Exquisite fine dining next to the big blue (not a) church. Like many folks moving into Los Angeles, Five Leaves is just another transplant in the neighborhood making once our older storefronts into something old-new. Turning once a drab corner into something shiny, the hint of art deco is captured well and can be admired while sipping well-crafted cocktails and fine glasses of wine. Brooklyn at its finest is the vibe I get from dining under such a piece of art is their dining room. Again, the food and drink are absolutely done up with flair and craft. The service is on par with their menu. You will not be disappointed with an impressive brunch, afternoon drinks, or a fine dining supper. Parking is street or Valet. The neighorhood is busy, and you will contend with Kaiser Hospital. You will have to expect to pay Brooklyn prices here. East Hollywood still chats up working-class paychecks, but Five Leaves is warranting the Benjamins.

Such a cute place in East Hollywood. Sunday brunch is a must at Five Leaves LA. We had reservations for 4 and we were seated right away. Gotta day the food and drinks are really good. Seems like for drinks we got 50 shades of orange. The mimosa, the Tumeric Bees Knees and El Rey. My favorite was the tumeric bees knees, I can't believe someone finally incorporated tumeric and alcohol. For food, we ordered the steamed mussels, the Chicoy & Delicata with salmon salad, the albacore burger and the chicken sandwich. The mussels are a must, they are drenched in a Thai style coconut soup with bits of bread that are finger licking good. The salad was my second favorite, the salmon was perfectly grilled. So good. The albacore burger and chicken sandwich were also good but not my favorite. Service is pretty good, our waiter was very smiley, informative and patient and he brought out our food and drinks fairly quickly. The hostess who sat us, just doesn't like to smile. She did everything she was supposed to, but I guess smiling couldn't hurt every once in a while. For a fairly new restaurant the pink couches for the booths were very dirty. I didn't take a photo but they had stains everywhere. Not just the ones we sat one, seems like they had stains all around. Don't wear black when you go there, the napkins you put on your lap leave a dusty residue on your clothes, they definitely need to invest in better ones. It ruined my shirt. Also, there's no doparking or valet, good luck finding parking in a two hour zone. All in all, this place needs a couple of tweaks, but, the food is so amazing I would definitely try it again.

Cool brunch spot! The food is delicious and portions generous, to top that the place itself is really nicely decorated with an open and airy feel to it. The bar tenders knows his game and will make variations on drinks, which are really good too! Service is also on point, what else could there be! Definitely an "LA spot", with celebs being left alone to enjoy their time and just a melting pot of different people joining in! Also, the breads used (from the avocado toast to the burger buns and sandwiches) are sooo good!!! Only draw back if I had to find one is that parking is only street parking but hey..it's LA!

This is one of the best restaurants I've ever been to - the meticulous attention to detail from the food to the ambiance to the friendly and attentive staff! We'll be back! Highlights - El Rey cocktail, Brussel Sprouts, Five Leaves Burger, Bread Pudding Dessert!

I never ever leave reviews. Came here on Sunday. Sat down at 1:10pm. Drinks took 20 mins to come. Ordered food. Then waited. Waited. Waited. Waited more. We're now at 2:20pm. Still no food. Didn't offer us a comp drink. Nothing. Waiter couldn't care less. Had to ask 3 times about food time. The place was like 50% full as well. Had to ask for another round of drinks which you think he would have offered us on the house. Almost an hour to wait for food. Never coming back. 100 mins to make basic pancakes and bacon and eggs which was mostly cold. Waiter had bad attitude. Dismal experience.
