I live nearby and come here all the time (and am Cuban, raised in Miami). I usually get the croquetas and sometimes pastelitos. The Cuban pastry options are pretty slim, weirdly. The vaca frita and sándwiches are acceptable, but the croquetas have kept me coming back because they’re fried fresh and seem to be caseros. The last time I ordered them (about 1-2 weeks ago) they were salty to the point of being inedible. Today, I walked in and waited behind (1) person for 25 minutes...
This has to be one of the best places in all of Los Angeles. I get a pastel de pollo, pastel de carne, y un cafe con hielo, all for $5.73. I get really great service every time. Extremely delicious, affordable, and soothing.
I don't usually give bad opinions about places I visit but this was my first time that I didn't like the service in a place, the place was dirty, the food was more or less but it differs a lot from the photograph they publish and that's not good...
I hope if I return things have changed...
What I did like are the displays of old things.
