Cosy Japanese Izakaya spot! Parking for a $5 flat rate after 5 p.m. in the back. Everything that we ordered was excellent, with a standout of the Chicken Karaage. Keep an eye out for the rotating specials on the first page of the menu.
Excellent. Everything here was excellent, and I felt like I was back in Japan. I can't say a bad word about this place. We ordered so many dishes and they were all bangers. Also, the sesame dessert was delicious.

Bit of a pricey spot, but so worth it! Got the intestine hotpot, gyoza stuffed wings, and oysters. Hotpot comes only with intestine, cabbage, chives, and noodles, so we ended up adding tofu pork meat. Such a good choice for a cold night. Fattiness of intestines was umami and not overwhelming, especially when paired with the yuzu kosho. Noodles were thick and the perfect texture. Wings taste exactly what the sound like and had a nice grilled flavor. Oysters were very fresh and refreshing.

Hakata Izakaya Hero is a hidden gem discovered at booths at the Asian American Expo, and it's a taste of Japanese perfection! The yakiniku sando, a flavor explosion with Japanese beef, lettuce, grilled onions, and the magic touch of Kewpie mayo. Imagine a dance of freshness and light flavors - not a hint of greasiness. But wait, there's more! A complimentary scallop yuzu ceviche that even ceviche skeptics like my girlfriend adored. The team, especially Jon, made the Expo experience top-notch. Authentic Japanese cuisine in the Expo hustle - a true delight. Now, counting the days till we savor more at their West LA spot. Hakata Izakaya Hero, you've got our taste buds dancing!

The food was great, but the seating arrangements could be improved. This was one of the best Japanese restaurants I've gone to since I moved to the US from Japan. It's worth trying.

Came back for dinner with a friend and got to try and few more dishes. Still love the METAIKO SHISO and the BEEF TONGUE STEAK. Also tried the TSUMAMI PLATE, and the PAN-FRIED CHAMPON NOODLE. Everything was still yummy and will continue to come back. ENJOY!
Food Choices are excellent, quality very good, and drink choices plentiful. The Hakata area in Japan is known for Horumon ( intestines- offal ). I prefer parboiled, trimmed, and bite-size. When you bite into it, there should not be any taste of oil aftertaste. Not my preference here. The Shiokara portion ( generally speaking for all), is small for its price. Overall, one of the better izakayas in the area.hmm

So amazing! Tip, you can call to make a reservation. I didn't know that so I showed up and had to wait about 45 minutes. Which is typical on a Friday evening anywhere in LA without a reservation haha. Anyways the food was immaculate, totally reminded me of the izakaya you can get in Japan, although with some added flare. The lemon ramen was soooooo tasty and the noodles were amazing. My favorite item was the stuffed shiitake, I haven't had anything like it before. We also loved the pork belly wrapped lettuce, had such a nice crunch and flavor. Honestly, very cheap. Spent $120 for two people with drinks and so much food. Highly highly recommend!

First two times we tried coming there weren't any tables. Third time we actually planned on advance and called for a reservation, and we were charmed. This place is so good, so authentic, and because there are so many small plates, I want to return to try more.

Came here for dinner reservations on a Saturday night. Reservations are highly recommended as they get busy. Parked in the paid lot for $5 on weekends. The service was excellent as the waitresses were all friendly and helpful. They spoke Japanese and English. We ordered a bunch of stuff to try out and they were all delicious. Highly recommend the motsunabe Hot Pot and jidori stuffed chicken wings. They do have a few tables for outdoor seating in the alleyway. Definitely worth coming back for more yummy izakaya food.Parking: Paid parking lot behind the restaurant. Metered on street parking.
Made reservations on a Thursday at 6:30 pm for a party of 4, and was seated immediately.I felt like I was in Japan, very authentic. We ordered:Small intestine hot pot: soup was good, the intestines is clean and fattyJapanese oysters: super milky and thickJellyfish: crunchyStuffed wings: good flavorsFish egg roe: salty goodnessSizzling Kobe beef: it can be a tad chewy if you eat it medium rare
