A wonderful relaxing and delicious sushi restaurant. A favorite of ours. Incredibly sashimi, rolls and even options for non-sushi lovers like our kids. So lucky to have near by! We love it!

I can only speak from a food pick up perspective, but for the affordable price point it's Soo good! definitely recommend their California roll, salmon skin and Philadelphia roll! We typically get four roll and two miso soups which is just perfect for us and for about ~$50 for a whole meal for two not bad at all! definitely will eat in next opportunity

Cool little hidden sushi spot. From the outside looks unassuming but the place is good. Definitely check out their board specials.

Best sushi in Venice by a long shot, no need to bother with any other spots. Makes Hama look like gas station sushi

One of my friends introduced me to this spot and we came to celebrate her birthday here. Ever since then, this has become my go-to spot for sushi on the westside. As an east coaster, I hate to say it but I've had mostly subpar, overpriced sushi in California. Hamakaze is without a doubt the best spot I've dined at on the west side for sushi. They have great service here-- it's never overrun with people, the environment is quiet and intimate so I don't have to shout across the table at whoever I'm dining with. I've never had to wait for my table reservation (classic LA-ism) and they've never pushed me out at a 90 minute time limit. The fish itself has consistently been fresh and flavorful. I typically start with edamame, yellowtail carpaccio, and then move into ordering sushi or sashimi. I've tried the toro, unagi, yellowtail, halibut, and Spanish mackerel. The blue crab hand roll makes the perfect dessert, but they also have a pretty tasty chocolate cake! One night we were treated to a chef's specialty dessert, which was an almond flavored budino-type of dish. Very light and sweet. Definitely won over my palette!I will continue to patronize this place as long as I'm on the west side and I'll continue to introduce my friends to this spot as well. 10/10 overall, so thankful to find this little gem.

I've only been here once, but will definitely go back to try more than just a few sushi rolls. The rolls were good. Bento beef was good and I usually don't get anything do the sort, but my partner did and we both enjoyed the cook of the meat and the flavors. It's a small establishment with nice surroundings. The only thing I have to say that was negative was the waitress. She was good in serving but customer service was a bit cold. She grabbed the menu from me while I was looking at it after we had already ordered. I literally was just interested in what else the restaurant had to offer for the next time I visit.... And she was just took the menu while I was in the middle of looking at it and was a bit scolding. I was surprised, but it didn't ruin my entire experience there, thank gawd. Just watch beware!

The food here is of premium quality! The sushi fish melted in my mouth. The miso was flavorful rather than salty. The service was attentive and warm. The restaurant is decorated beautifully. So grateful to have discovered this gem!

I honestly don't know why it's taken me so long to review this wonderful intimate little sushi place, which has consistently provided us with excellent food, quality and service every time (and we've been here a LOT). Perhaps it's because Hamakaze almost feels like a wonderful well-kept secret and I'm afraid if the word gets out, it may not be the same?? Welp, I guess it's too late now. But seriously, this place absolutely deserves all five stars and then some. This unassuming little sushi and izakaya restaurant is never very busy, even at peak Friday and Saturday evening hours. Even though it's located on busy Washington Blvd., it is never crowded when we dine there. The service has consistently been impeccable, polite and prompt, and the food consistently high-quality. The go-to menu items for Boyfriend and I are the scrumptious Baked New Zealand green-lip mussels, the Shrimp-and-Scallop Dumplings, and the sautéed Scallops in Ponzu Sauce. Warning: the Ponzu sauce is soo delicious you will either want to drink it straight from the bowl or bathe in it. Ok. Maybe that's only me. You can't really go wrong with any of their sushi rolls or sashimi, as they are all very fresh and delicious. Our faves are the Crunch Roll, the Rainbow Roll, and the Tuna Fever Roll, but we switch it up occasions and have never been disappointed. We also usually split a bottle of hot sake. On tonight's occasion, our sweet waitress kept coming by to apologize because we had not received our regular order of scallops in ponzu before our rolls. We weren't upset in the least, as we were happily munching away on our other food. However, when she returned with our check, she also brought us a huge complimentary scoop of green tea ice cream to share as an apology. It was totally not necessary, but very much appreciated. This is customer service done right!!Suffice it to say that we love Hamakaze, and we hope they remain in business for a very long time!!

Love the food! Fire beef, ahi tuna tartar, angel wings, garlic string beans and yummy brussel sprouts. Try the ginger saki - my favorite.

Fantastic local staple with more than just fresh fish and delicious rolls. Great selection of tempura and skewers. This is our go-to sushi spot in Marina.

Okay here's the rundown-I've been on the search for a yummy sushi spot on the westside and this place overall was solid for the price point. We started with the miso and spicy edamame and that was insanely spicy like my mouth was on fire. The miso was super tasty and fresh and my partner thought they put extra miso paste and I liked that as I really don't like watered down miso. The waitress recommended the pork gyoza as they are made in house. They tasted super fresh, however the filling was slightly dry and over cooked but I still enjoyed. We also got salmon and Spanish macral which was so fresh and buttery. We ordered two rolls being the spider roll and soft shell crab roll which was hands down the highlight of the meal. The texture was delicious and satisfying perfect mixture of crispy with a nice chew from the soft rice. We ordered the some sake and it was very tasty. Overall, I had a great meal and I would definitely come again and maybe try some of their other specialty rolls.

Rivals my old home sushi place before they closed shop. A hidden gem of an Izakaya. Great sushi, lots of great sides, good saki selection. Glad I found this one, I will be a regular
