Yeah, it’s pricey as others have said. But good value, tacos are meaty, drinks are strong, service is fast and accommodating. You can buy 3 tacos somewhere else for the price of one here, but the one here is thick and you only need one. Same with the Margs, one and you’ll catch a buzz. You don’t need 3 surgery lemonades like other places to reach your happy state. Food, drinks, service is consistent and when it’s not any comment or complaint I’ve ever had is rectified immediately and professionally. That’s all a customer wants, value, consistency and issues addressed. Home state delivers. I think the HLP one does it better than most, the staff there is aces and the patio is a good hang.

Love going here. Great esthetic and fun lively vibe we hit up last Saturday. Line out the door and still got a table on the patio with a dog and the baby stroller within minutes.

HomeState in Highland Park nails the vibe — the patio seating is great, especially on a nice day. But let’s be real: you’re mostly going for the ambiance. The food is just okay, parking is a pain, and nothing really stands out flavor-wise. Still, it’s a solid spot to chill and hang with friends, if you’re not expecting to be wowed by the meal.

As a mexican the food here is awful! Its a poor bland imitation masquerading as tex-mex food. Like you just threw eggs bacon potato into a tortilla and gave the menu random Spanish words as the name of the dish ? So lazy and sloppy. Like literally random spanish words, like
COMAL, FRIO. Wtf? The Spanish word for Cold is the name of a taco here. Just makes no sense, lazy and uncreative. Food was bland, like i literally can make this at home and have it taste better. The Corn tortilla in my corn tortilla taco was UNDERCOOKED. It tasted like it was thrown in a microwave for 10seconds then they put unseasoned egg mush on it. The salsas have no kick !
Anyways, white people seem to love this place living up to the stereotype of lacking seasoning

Just don’t order the potato taco to go! It’s always ice cold and hard. I don’t know why I keep doing it.

A really pleasant and welcoming environment. The service was great and the options for me (I'm dairy intolerant) were good. I had the emos tacos - so tasty. Others with me loved their choices too. I'm just disappointed that I didn't get a strawberry margarita - it looked delicious!
We sat outside (it was a bit quieter than indoors) - found seats easily.
