A hollywood staple. Glad to see it still open and running. Good food and good service, perfect after griffith park! You can’t go wrong with anything from the bakery. You should obviously try a slice of pie (pecan), but if not the coffee cake or cinnamon roll is good too.

Pies at House of Pies were awesome!

Charming, old school diner. Had brunch there. The presentation of the food didn’t look too appetising, but they tasted great.

They do apple pie the old fashioned way - crusty, savoury. highly recommend.

Small parking lot: will probably need to park at the streets.

We haven't ate there yet but we grabbed two pies to go a apple pie and a banana cream pie for my son's birthday and I got to tell you that banana cream pie was amazing it remind me of many years ago eating banana cream pies at the House of pies in Houston Texas it was amazing can't wait to eat there

Have come here twice recently after dinner down the street to obtain the delicious tart cherry pie. Super flaky crust and juicy cherries never disappoints.

It wasn't that great. The atmosphere is good for friends or family. I wasn't thrilled with the country steak. It also took a while for the meal to get there and when it did get there the waiters didn't know who ordered what.

I’m a local of 20 years. I had been looking forward to trying House of Pies for so long! I came in the other day with a friend who had also never been. Being first-timers and given the name, we of course wanted to try the pies!

We came in and everything was lovely until we were seated. It didn’t seem too busy and many tables were open, yet we were seated all the way in the corner away from everyone, against the wall in one of the booths. No other parties were seated at the booths and we were at least 15 feet away/3-4 tables away from all the other parties, who were filling up the other side of the restaurant. We didn’t think much of it at first until we started ordering and only ordered pies! The waiter seemed somewhat annoyed that we didn’t order anything else but a few different pies to try. While we ate, we were not approached at all except when the bill was delivered to us, which was almost immediately from receiving our food. My friend immediately called it out and I could no longer enjoy our visit. They seemed in a rush to get us out.

I understand a possible annoyance but c’mon! Surely we are not the first to order only pies at the House of PIES! As a business owner, the quality of service was disappointing. A sale is a sale, and it’s not like we were only ordering one pie each.

After seeing similar reviews, I can’t help but wonder if my initial thought was correct, and we were being treated with a bias for being people of color. Because we ordered less, the other folk were serviced better? The audacity to ask for a tip as well if that was the case. Disappointed because some of the workers looked non-white. Perhaps a slight bias towards certain customers?

I guess it was nice to finally visit but overall a bummer. Atmosphere is nice and the place has a real charm. Glad I got to see the inside but one time was more than enough for me 😢
