La Luz del Día Restaurant is a spacious place known for its three seating areas, including an outdoor section surrounded by bugambilla and a formal dining area decorated with blue tile. The menu features dishes such as hard shell chicken and meat tacos, as well as carnitas tacos with rice, beans, and salsa. The chicarron, which is believed to be tripe, has been noted as surprisingly good, while the carnitas are also praised. Although the food is served on paper plates, it is cooked to perfection. The restaurant is clean and well-maintained, making it a great spot for a return visit. While some diners find the Nogales cactus salad flavorless and mention that the food does not taste exactly like it does in Mexico, it is still considered good for the area. The outdoor seating is enjoyable, especially on warm days, and a Mariachi band adds to the atmosphere. Overall, it is a picturesque spot that could benefit from more variety in the menu but remains a solid choice for Mexican food in the heart of Los Angeles.
