Its not open to the public. Only public events or when its raining. The rooftop bar is what's available regularly to the public
February 2023 we travelled to LA from San Diego for a weekend of delightful shenanigans and shows. I am a huge tea connoisseur and I adore going for high or afternoon tea. I found this place through a quick Yelp search and it had such a unique atmosphere and look that I couldn't resist. Was able to make a reservation through OpenTable.
When we arrived at the hotel...yes, Lilly Rose is located in the basement of The Wayfarer Downtown Los Angeles...we checked in with the concierge and were escorted downstairs. When we got off the elevator and entered the space all of our jaws dropped. The space is decorated so whimsically it was great. There was a fortune teller machine like the one from Big. There was a carousel horse. There was a rollercoaster bench and so much more. We were seated almost in the center of the venue in a private high backed banquette. It was a dreary rainy day so it was quite empty when we arrived but picked up about an hour after our reservation began. So the dreary, rainy day was wreaking havoc on the hotel and the heat was out in the venue so it was quite chilly. The manager who was helping us had a space heater that he let us point toward our table to stay warm. The chill didn't dampen our mood; we had enjoyed had an excellent time and experience.
Our server came over and brought a tea board with their featured teas for us to select from. I love those interactive tea boards. It's great being able to put your nose into the tea you're considering to see what the aroma and body of the tea will be. We each selected a tea and added on champagne to our tea. Our teapots arrived first and we were all happy with our selection. A short while later our tea tower was delivered to the table and had the best selection of tea sandwiches and savouries. As a regular tea attendee I've had a ton of different sandwich and savoury selections but it's always great to be surprised with others. We munched and chatted and took photos of the venue. The staff were friendly and welcoming and knowledgeable which always makes the experience that much better. Our sitting was for two hours but they didn't bum-rush us out. We were able to linger and sip tea and relax. Before we left our server was even nice enough to snap a few shots of our threesome. I can't recommend this tea enough. You will not be disappointed. Thank you, Lilly Rose! I hope to sup with you again soon.
The atmosphere here is great. It is dimly lit with a cozy-cool vibe. Lots of interesting furniture and decorations to look at. The drinks are great. This space is not huge so if there is an event going on that night get there early. Would recommend.
Absolutely love this place. Kevin is also fantastic! Thank you
I’ve been coming to Lily Rose for almost a year now and Saturday night was my last time EVER coming here! The waitress Audra that was assigned to our table was so disrespectful, argumentative and violent. From the time we sat down until the time we left she was no where to be found. I tried to give my drink order for the table of four but she only took the order for 2 of us and proceeded to walk away very fast. As my mom drank her lemon drop a piece of hair ended up in her mouth. We called Audra over and she was very argumentative about it saying that no one at the bar has this color hair but it’s dark so no one could tell what color it was. And she offered to have the bartender make another one but my mom declined. Once it was time to leave and we wanted the check we waited for at least 40 minutes for her to come. It was ridiculous. But once she did come, there was only 4 of us drinking but she added gratuity to the check. Had all of us been drinking I could have understood or more than 6 of us I could have seen why it was added but whatever. She went back and forth with me about it eventually took it off. But when she brought the updated check back she THREW IT ON THE TABLE. And once she walked away with an attitude I went to the host to complain and wanted to speak to the manager. There’s no reason why should think it’s okay to treat someone like this. The manager never came and we were ready to go so we paid the bill and left. As I walked to the elevator I asked the host what our waitress’ name is and she told me and then Audra heard me ask for her name and came out and yelled at me saying she didn’t throw anything but we all saw her throw it at the table. Even while I we were trying to leave she wanted to go back and forth with me again. I just walked away. And when I went to the lobby I complained again thinking the manager would be there but it was just security and they took my number down but I knew no one would ever call me. I’ll NEVER COME BACK

Stopped by here on a 3-day trip to LA and greatly enjoyed the ambiance. The live music they had only added to the chill vibes. Drinks were a little

THIS PLACE WAS CLOSED AND RUINED A BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION. Did not receive any notification that our tea was cancelled so appalled. PLS REMOVE ALL AVAILABILITY.
This place is great, but the service felt chaotic. We thought it was odd that they didn't ask if we had reservations as we noted down vegetarian for one guest. We were given a plate of sandwiches but they all had meat. We asked about vegetarian options and the waiter seemed at a loss and had to switch out our food instead of leaving it and grabbing another set of veggie options. The order everything was presented was also confusing. First we were told we'll get water once we sat down. However, we got cocktails, tea, desserts in a tiered plate, sandwiches and tamales, then finally our water but we had to ask. To keep our sanity, it made more sense to do water and cocktails, scone and tea, savory foods, then desserts. We also found it odd there were no scones but had jam, curd, and clotted cream served with the deserts. The place was not full, plenty of tables were open, but it felt like service was sparse and hard to get while each part of the meal came half hour to an hour apart. We spent 3 whole hours at this place. The decorations of this basement was appropriate for the spooky season but it really made us feel trapped more than anything.
Vegetarian options: Bring up vegetarian needs when being seated. They don't check for reservations that would have that note.

On Instagram it was made to look ad though the bar would have Halloween inspired drinks available and they did not which was disappointing. Upon arrival, we were informed only beverages were available smd no food. The drink menu was very limited and the drinks we ordered were very hard to sip - it had way too much alcohol. There was no balance at all. Very disappointing experience. Will not return.
This is not classics high tea. The food is inedible and the place is dirty. The staff is nice though, and trying their best.
I was really bummed out by this experience. First off, they are incredibly understaffed. Two people for the entire space is not remotely enough. Their normal tea gives you options and a menu but their Spooky Tea experience does not. We were given the option of two very specific teas that 2/3 of us weren't interested in and we didn't know if we could order off menu. Our experience came with drinks and we were verbally offered only two selections, neither any of us liked but we choose a high ball and all 3 of us hated it and couldn't drink it. When we just wanted to send it back and take the loss, then suddenly there was an elevated mimosa option that he never mentioned originally that all of us would have preferred. We got those no charge and also another round no charge which was very kind. Like I said the servers were not the issue, the fact they were stretched too thin was. We sat and waited almost 20 min at our table before we even got a server because they were too worked. We had to chase them down to give our card to them after waiting almost 20 min to pay. Again, not their fault and we tipped them heavily. They just don't have enough people. The food we got was also really not good. Mostly all pumpkin. The cookies were literally the pillsbury Halloween sugar cookies. Everything savory was spicy and I can't eat spicy. Only thing that wasn't was a bland tiny potato churro which was literally just a single tater tot. I left starving and none of us enjoyed ourselves despite really trying. The setting was so cool we literally gasped when the elevator doors opened but that's where the fun ended for us. Hire two more servers. Please. And when you charge more for “an experience” make sure people get more options, a menu so your overworked staff doesn't have to sit there and recite things and that everything you serve isn't the same thing (pumpkin or spicy). Won't be returning.
