Doesn’t offer to-go on some items like dumplings. Apparently it’s not “what the chef prefers.” Sure chef, maybe put it on the menu before people wait in line. You’re inconveniencing your patrons.

Another pretentious cafe in LA. Apparently they don't offer to-go on some items like dumplings. It's not "what the chef prefers." Sure chef, maybe put it on the menu before people wait in your long line to order. You're inconveniencing your hopeful patrons.

AMAZING Expect waiting outside, party of 2 was 20-25 min Saturday afternoon and cannot call in to be added to it. Everything on the menu is great but the French toast, pork belly fried rice, and strawberry tea were the best. Limited seating and one restroom but highly recommend.

The food is fine but I didn't enjoy the flavors. I thought everything could use some salt. The flavors just didn't "pop". I had the pork belly bowl, the spicy wontons, a strawberry iced tea, and a green tea bun (pastry). The pork belly bowl tasted fine but could use some salt to bring out more flavor (this is my opinion). The spicy wontons were fine but could also use some salt (this is my opinion). The stawberry iced tea was GOOD (this is a win). The green tea bun was dry and the filling was too "greasy" for me. I think it's a buttercream filling. It is light in texture but felt very "heavy" in mouth-feel. I can only describe it as "greasy". I did not like it. I wouldn't mind trying the other items but based on how everything tasted and the flavor profiles, I don't think I would spend my money here. I really wanted to like it but I don't think I will return.

Such a great new addition to KTown! Amazing food! I've tried most things and it's all super delicious. The chicken and rice is truly exceptional. They change up the baked offerings so definitely go back often! The staff is super friendly too. Don't let the line discourage you. It's well worth the wait!

Liu's Cafe is great at what they're doing. I don't want to say they're Taiwan Fusion but it definitely isn't your normal Taiwan Cafe/Restaurant you may be used to. The interior is very well done, slightly dark but the atmosphere is definitely upscale-ish (something you find out of Koreatown, like around Larchmont village). I personally don't enjoy chili oil (i know, a terrible crime) so I do my best in avoiding spices that are of szechuan etc. BUT I must say, I did in fact LOVE the spicy wonton ! I like how they are able to bring in a subtle heat that is not overwhelming (good way to transitioning into new flavors that you aren't used to or try to avoid). The pineapple bun with the vanilla buttercream was amazing, flaky sweet and slightly salty, what's there not to like? The man at the front cashier (forgot to ask for his name...) was very attentive and informative ! As it was my partner and I's first time and did not know what to get, he had recommended several dishes and instructed us on how to thoroughly enjoy the dish! After the meal as well, he had engaged in a small conversation and was elated to hear that we enjoyed the meal. I thoroughly, and I mean THOROUGHLY enjoyed the experience, I will be recommending this to others and will also regularly visit! I personally am cheering for their business and wish them the best ! Cannot wait to see what their Spring Menu will have (if they have one) !

Liu's Cafe is a small, cozy cafe offering Taiwanese breakfast and pastries. The lines are long but worth the wait! The pork belly bowl and sesame noodles were recommended by the server and they did not disappoint - full of flavor and neither too heavy. I highly recommend getting one of each to share. Rec the wontons w/ the chili sauce - on the oilier side though! The drinks are tasty - loved my passionfruit tea which was refreshing. Would come back to try the pastries - the matcha croissant was filled w/ matcha cream and sooo flaky and buttery. All the pastries on display looked delectable! I heard they sell out on busy days, so recommend going when they open.

Small restaurant in LA with street parking only. You order your food at the counter first and then get seated afterwards. We waited 30 minutes on a Sunday and food came out super quick, all within 10 minutes. service was pretty good and staff was friendly. pork belly rice 4/5: very soft and flavorful pork. Paired well with the rice and cucumber. was a bit on the oily side. chicken rice 3.5/5: the rice to chicken ratio was not the best. I added a bunch of the chili oil for more flavor cold noodles 4/5: very nutty and umami and paired well with the chicken add on spicy wontons 3/5: had more of a vinegary taste and the fillings inside was very minimal. would not recommend this dish compared to the others

Really tasty food, exceptionally friendly and enthusiastic service, plus awesome ambiance! The half hour wait was worth it. Yes, expect a wait, even for a party of two. We had the chicken rice, the spicy wontons and the cold noodles. All were just superbly delicious. The spicy food is not overly spicy. Even I enjoyed it. It's pleasantly spicy. My favorite dish were the spicy wontons on a bed of egg noodles! The matcha pastry and the biscuit were really good too. It's a really fun experience thanks to the staff and ambiance! Meter parking is available.

Came here for brunch with a few friends earlier during their soft opening. Fantastic food at reasonable prices when split with a party. Mix of staples and creative twists on the menu. Save some extra time to look for metered spots nearby, gets busy on the weekends. Small cafe so come early for seats! Their sesame cold noodle is flavorful but refreshing. Spicy wontons are not too spicy, very umami. Their Hong Kong style French toast is a crowd favorite - crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Buttery without being too sweet. A must try! Check it out if you get the chance.

Was a taste of home. Really enjoyed the simple menu and they made everything with great flavor. Breakfast ends at 11:25, and lunch rush comes in fast! It gets crowded around 11:30 so be sure to come in early. We got braised pork belly rice, chiayi chicken rice, and spicy wontons with noodles. I recommend all! I’ll be back to try the other dishes.Parking isn’t easy so just be mindful about that.

Liu’s hit the mark on many fronts. First the food was fantastic. Portions were decent, ingredients were fresh and tasted “clean” and flavourful. We were party of 4 so we ordered 4 of the classics and some pastry. Beyond the food, the atmosphere was inviting, friendly and trendy. It does get crowded with lines forming pretty early but the wait was manageable since they deliver the food pretty quickly and people are good about eating and giving the space to others.
