Great ice cream and also great sandwiches! I usually stop by for a scoop, but I came here for lunch one day and really liked the tuna sandwich combo served with fresh fruit and a fresh juice. Will definitely be back

This place is a rarity. Most places like this are dingy, not well maintained, and have a sloppy selection. This place is pristine, has a huge, clear variety, and a super fun, happy vibe. The woman behind the counter was very nice and helpful. I’ve only tried the chocolate covered strawberry bar and it was underwhelming, but there is something about this place that makes me want to come back and try everything. Next I’ll target the yogurt bars and banana bars. Hopefully the taste of them improves my rating.

The smoothie was super good and fresh!! The sandwich was also fresh, and big enough to split for two people. The price was a bit high though but that’s expected in this area.

After a nice cardio run in Temescal Canyon, I was on the hunt for something refreshing and cool—what better treat than a Paleta? My search led me to Mateo's on Santa Monica Blvd, and I'm so glad it did!

Service: The service was incredibly friendly. Knowing a bit of Spanish was definitely a plus, but the staff's warmth and helpfulness shone through regardless.

Paletas: I opted for the Cantaloupe Paleta, which was packed with juicy chunks of melon and quite refreshing. While I wished the cantaloupe had been a tad riper for a bolder flavor, it still hit the spot. I’ve had better paletas before, but I wouldn’t hesitate to stop by here again for another round.

Vibe: Mateo’s has such a fun and lively vibe! The bright and colorful decor perfectly complements the array of ice cream and paletas on display, making it a delightful spot to cool off and indulge. Also, parking was super easy on the street in front of the shop.

Overall: A great experience! If you find yourself nearby, definitely give Mateo’s a try. I know I'll be back!

Yummmyyy i its a really cute place. I got the fresas con crema. The strawberries were very fresh, and the crema went absolutely off too! The girl that helped me out was so nice and patient but i didnt catch her name. Will definitely return to try all the paletas and ice creams.
