We’ve loved and supported McCalls for many years. The scaling up of operations, while beautiful, comes with some challenges at staff level. Not all employees are trained to be customer facing, which stands out against an otherwise immaculate backdrop. Early signs that the vibe is off.
Best meat and seafood material in LA
Patrick, the definitive cheesemonger of Glendale Blvd, went out of his way to make my visit as enriching as possible. His knowledge and insight astounded. Elizabeth and Parker were also especially helpful at the counter. I will be back!
Staff are so helpful
Great spot on the east side for private chefs to shop
FYI this is the best butcher in LA and dare I say the world !! I'm actually not kidding, I've traveled all over and can't really think of anywhere that comes close to McCall's in terms of quality and range of offerings. All the stuff made in-house is SOOOO good, and they have literally everything--if they don't, they'll happily get it in for you. A lot of really skilled, really knowledgable people working here, and they're all super nice :)
friendliest most knowledgeable people i've experienced at a butcher/grocery. theyre not rushing you out the door or scowling at you the whole time like other places, im always comfortable asking questions or getting suggestions. DONT sleep on the produce, ironically theres just as much value for a vegetarian to shop here. i've bought and cooked things from here that made me never want to go out to eat again (wagyu picanha for example)
Shouldn't have left Los Feliz
Great meat, nice but pricey selection, but the tip creep at the register is exhausting. Please pay your staff an appropriate wage, adjust your prices accordingly, and leave the unnecessary guesswork out of a historically untipped line of work.
Awesome butcher shop with great staff and great cuts of meat!
I so wanted to give this place 5 stars, because having a premium market in my neighborhood is so great. They have what looks to be some really great stuff. The store is well appointed with a number of staff busily preparing fish and meats behind the counter. However, I bought the “famous” Harry’s Berries at $22 for a pound of strawberries. For that price, they should have been exquisite, right? Nope. They looked beautiful, each berry being deep red, not a pale one in the bunch. But the taste was just as bland and watery as your regular supermarket strawberries. They were just okay. Why would I pay 4X as much for the quality I can get at Vons? There is pricey, and there is gouging, I feel like this store ventures a bit too far into the latter. I imagine it’s not cheap to run a store on Glendale Blvd in Atwater Village, and perhaps this is what they have to charge to turn a profit.

Great butcher for general, common cuts. But if you need anything remotely out of the ordinary, the customer service is lackluster. They will juggle you between a handful of different associates who don't coordinate with eachother, never call you back, and just straight up forget about you. If you're fine just visiting and seeing what they have in the moment, they're fine. But don't rely on them for all your needs.
Best butcher in LA.
I like the selection they offer. They have an intimate selection.
Love the trout. Pricey.
But worth it.
Audrey, the director of operations is awesome.
Shout out to Austin. He’s very kind.
The entire staff is friendly.
We’re having pasta tonight and their blended ground beef will be perfect for the meal.
Nice meat! A little pricey!
McCall’s in Burbank is a delightful little market, offering a unique selection of fresh meats, seafood, and imported goods. You’ll find everything from fiery paprika to authentic Italian meats, as well as fresh produce and delicious baked goods like focaccia and pasta. It’s a lovely place to shop for something special.
