Went there tonight on my first day in L.A. EVER for my anniversary and everything was ABSOLUTELY perfect ♥︎
Our date started trying a non alcoholic cocktail and a Tommy's Margarita with mezcal (which we bought before we left because it was AMAZING) and then we moved to our table near the central tree.. our waiter, Rudy, friendly introduced himself and with a rare enthusiasm told us everything we needed to know from the food and drinks... We felt at home during the whole night.
We will definitely visit again whenever it will be possible 🫶🏻

Worth the hype!!! Beautiful decor, plating, and dishware. The cocktails were simply excellent, the portions were generous (especially the cochinita pibil, glad we had a good group to share), and all the flavors and textures were interesting and delicious!! Great place to bring a larger group, date night, or to impress out-of-towners with some inventive and elevated Mexican food.

I had dinner here last night and it was pretty good. The restaurant space itself is quite unique and doesn’t feel like a typical LA restaurant. It’s a rather large restaurant, spanning two stories and feels like a little escape from the city. The food was very good, especially the rainbow carrots and kanpachi Aguachile. I would order those two items again. The guacamole also tasted great but the portion for the price with a little bit on the small side. The mezcal flight was fun to try too ! My only criticism would be that I thought it was just a pricey. The service was solid, no complaints.

Good crispy chicken tacos, but the sauce was a little barbecuey if you will 😏

This place is such and experience. Definitely sit at the bar area downstairs where the tree is. Its so beautiful. The flavor in this food is so memorable. We got the cochinita pibil, some cocktails, and some tacos. Absolutely delectable, all of it. The salsa was spicy and fresh. The avocado sauce was very well balanced. Our server was super personable as well. Great for photo ops and a beautiful night out. Take a date here.

It’s my daughter's birthday today Aug 2nd arrived at this place at 11:10 am and they just opened at 11am. The hostess (Caucasian) on the front was terrible at guest service! (Piercing on the nose) I understand we didn’t make any reservation but her attitude for being early in the morning was just not acceptable. Never even smiled or greeted us. I understand we didn’t have a reservation but when I asked to just put us on 2 tables she didn’t even bother trying but instead she said we could just be accommodated downstairs with high chairs and we have a 1 year old. If you’re an experienced hostess you wouldn’t even suggest that since we have a 1 year old. Hopefully they hold her accountable since I don’t want to review this place with her terrible guest service. We end up just leaving this place and waited outside to decide where to eat. It was already 11:30 and no one was there yet. Would probably give this place another chance.

The inside of Mirate is pretty special: the seating area is an indoor/outdoor hybrid with a huge tree as a centrepiece, loads of open spaces and a lovely bar area upstairs. I thought it was a bit strange how you have to walk across the entire restaurant to get to the Front of House, felt a little obnoxious, but that aside, it's a pleasant environment, and the staff were all polite, courteous and not overly bothersome like a lot of other places area. The cocktail & drinks menu is HUGE. There's a lot to pick from, and the ones we did were pretty tasty. My only gripe with this place was the food (and the price). I do not understand how anyone can justify $10 for one taco - and it wasn't exactly a traditional taco either - it was some weird hipster hybrid version of a taco (which was difficult and messy to eat). What pains me the most is that the food itself (in particular the meat) was actually pretty tasty, but I just cannot get over how small the food menu was and how they were getting away with shifting overpriced appetisers as meals. The upstairs bar also charged us approximately $25 for 2 small beers; it all felt pretty criminal. Seems like it might be a hotspot for first dates and work outings, as it would certainly impress me if I wasn't the one paying. I really think this place doesn't know what it wants to be - struggling with its identity like a rebellious teenager - and so refers to itself as 'Mexican', but I can honestly say that this is not Mexican cuisine, and that's okay, but just be honest about it and define genre of food yourself.

A portal into Mexico City. The food is exceptional. The cochinita pibil and branzino being a highlight but also the surprising carrot tacos and exquisite hamachi crudo - both phenomenal. By the end I was still trying to force myself to eat as I didn’t want to leave the flavours on the table. Oddly the only things I didn’t like were the molcajete salsa which had been in the fridge too long and lost its flavour (it was a Monday though which is traditionally chef’s day off) and the lacklustre salsa macha that for my taste lacked the seeds, nuts and frutos secos of the CDMX recipe. The avocado salsa was sublime however and I could have drunk a bowl. The cocktails were delicious with an exhaustive list of mescal and tequila. The atmosphere was perfect: fun, romantic, relaxed and sophisticated all at once in a beautiful interior with a tree inside giving it a true Mexico City vibe and the staff couldn’t have been nicer or better informed. Basically - it’s great: 9.9/10

Absolutely loved our experience at Mirate! The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming from the moment we walked in. The food was on another level — bold, fresh, and full of authentic flavor. What really stood out was the food presentation — every dish looked like a work of art. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an elevated Mexican dining experience!

Truly a gem of a place! I was blown away by the gorgeous decor and greenery. Every staff member I interacted with was SO friendly and helpful — especially Enoch who found us spots by the bar during a busy Saturday evening! Huge props to him!! Highly recommend their margaritas, but I’m sure all their drinks are amazing. Next time, I’ll try the food! I 100% recommend checking this place out for date night or a get together!

Fun spot that focuses mainly on Mexican ingredients and liquor for their cocktails. Really enjoyed La Toxica (w/ the cold brew) and the Taquero No 2 cocktails.
