You can really taste the umami in each bite 🤤 The miso soup is perfect and not overly salty and the salmon donburi filling and savory. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable feeling like a warm hug with a side of ur favorite japanese dish

This is a retro restaurant, been here for decades. The food is traditional Japanese, sukiyaki was excellent!
Everybody's orders were also well done: salmon skin salad was delicious, the omelette and tuna salad.
I ordered tonkatsu to go and that was delicious, not dry at all.
It is a small cafe so be patient. Your order is coming.

The food that they prepare is surprising considering what the inside of the restaurant looks like. The udon soup that my grandma got was rich with flavor and the green tea that I got with the miso soup was perfect. The server was lovely and the food came out fast. She made sure were taken care of but it was slow at the time too so that helped with the quick service.
The negatives include it smelling a little funky walking it, it looking like the furniture and utilities haven't been updated in decades, and the places out of the way (but still in view) looking not clean. There is a restroom with a nice toilet no less, but I don't want to touch anything else in there.

Walked in early on the morning and they accommodated us. Not everything was available as it was super early, but the chef allowed us to order Yaki Soba. Really nice people. Definitely coming back.

Deceptive restaurant. Ordered two California rolls for $6. Was charged $12 each. Waitress explained after
that the $6 roll was a hand roll.
She could have explained herself better when we ordered and asked if I wanted the hand roll or regular roll
Very pricey for what we got

We explore this place based on Google review. We ordered their lunch special, and the food taste decently good. However, the serving speed is a bit slow, considering it’s late afternoon and we are the only customer there. All else is good, and staff is friendly too.
Good eats, decent prices, and Doris is the absolute best. She's one of the reasons I keep coming back. You won't find a more gentle and warm soul in the universe.

I don't know who wrote good reviews. This restaurant smells bad as soon as you enter the entrance. I didn't express myself because I followed my group. It's a bad smell that I can't get used to. I decided to leave a review on the odor that lowers my appetite. I've been to many old restaurants, but I've never seen such a smelly and dirty place (dust accumulated in the corner of the carpet, an unorganized display).
Even the server sprayed a strong scent of perfume.

know that the food will take time to be ready, it seems like they prepare meals as they are ordered with few items done ahead of time. The wait is totally worth it, food is fantastic.

I'm not sure if she's the owner, but the lady who works there is one of the kindest people I've ever met. My girlfriend and I came in for their curry special, and even though they didn't have it, they were still willing to make us a plate of Katsu curry and she was sweet and made sure we had everything we needed the entire time, and even gave us free Hichews before we left. That being said, the food was kinda subpar, and they leave the door open so the entire front of the restaurant is swarmed by flies. It's a nice place with nice people, but not the best otherwise.

I practically grew up at the Mitsuru in Whittier with Ochie and Rio listening to karaoke music as mom and I ate. My Mom (Sherry. RIP) would sit in there during my dance classes. I wish I could have gone many more times before the Whittier one closed. I always took friends and family there for California Roll, Teriyaki, and green tea ice cream. Once, Ochi gave me a pink and green teddy bear when I said it was my birthday.Mom came to this location a lot after work over the years. I need to come and eat here next time I'm back in LA.
Came inside this restaurant because we needed a restroom however the food was AMAZING each plate comes with miso soup which was so good, the vibe of this place is cool, this local restaurant is a gem and we loved the food

It looks like a hole in the wall and the food was not good. I ordered the special A and everything had the wasabi already added. The sushi/nigirizushi was the worst I ever had. Wouldn't recommend. Very plain, simple and $$$
