Nak Won's gul pyun ttuk (rice cake) is the best. Perfectly soft, chewy, and nutty from the sesame oil. Simple food made perfect. I purchased mine across the street at HK Mart--it's super fresh.

(Translated by Google) You said goodbye to come once in January 2021I ordered again at the beginning of March, but it made me feel awful because I reduced the amount to a point that could be seen with my own eyes, and it was terrible. If you want to make a regular, you have to do the same!!!!Don't go, find another place and go....(Original)2021년1월에 한번 가래떡 오다하고 잘해주셔서3월 초에 또 order 했는데 웬 걸 눈으로도 확인될만큼 양을 줄이고 형편 없이 해줘서 기분 엄청 나빳어요 단골을 만드시려면 똑 같이는 해주셔야죠!!!!가지 마세요 딴곳 알아보고 가세요....

I do enjoy some good Korean rice cake (or "dduk") from time to time, but I've rarely gone out of my way to get any before. However, my wife and I were about to visit my parents and decided to buy them some rice cakes. We checked Yelp on the way to Koreatown and this place was at the top of the results. So I parked on the street (it's in a little strip mall with a parking lot, but I think it was valet only), and strolled inside the bakery around 11am. No fancy display windows or rows of dduk to choose from. There were three or four varieties including a sampler pack. I don't know if there's usually more, or if it's just always limited in selection as another reviewer once shared (since maybe they focus on wholesale and special orders). I picked up some dduk to inspect it a little bit, and the first thing I noticed was that it was warm! And so soft. And, as I would later find out, so delicious. The man behind the counter confirmed everything was freshly made. So I bought 2 normal-sized packs, at $4-5 each (cash only). If you're looking for a lot of variety, maybe try elsewhere; but if you're in the mood for some good quality dduk and don't care about what kind, you can't go wrong here. The earlier in the day the better (I assume).

I ordered my baby's 1st birthday dduk here and it was AMAZING!!!! She is just the sweetest person ever and made the cakes super pretty! I didn't want a regular cake but a rice cake "cake" and she made me the most beautiful cake I could have ever dreamed off! She makes all of the decorations by hand!!! I was sooooo impressed!!! I even called to thank her the next day! That is how beautiful the cake was :D The price is amazing and she is very generous with her serving size. You can't go wrong here!

i dunno what it is about sticky korean rice-based desserts omggggg......maybe i just like the chewy weird foreign texture....?? maybe their desserts are really not that sweet at all&contains no dairy (no butter, no cream, etc.) so it's tastes a bit 'cleaner' and so maybe i feel less guilty.....?? but it's all asian'y and sesame and good! i like it! :) or i've just been to a lotta korean weddings.....?!!?? i dunno..... :o

Best dduk in LA. I LOVE this duuk jeep (rice cake house). Their dduk products can be found in Korean grocery stores, ie HK, Galleria, etc. All these grocery stores carry several dduk jeep brands but Nak Won is the best and their stuff is always the first to go. The look and taste sooo much better than the other brands and yet they are all the same price. I wouldn't recommend coming to the source directly because they don't always have a great selection since they are delivering most of their stuff to the grocery stores. If you do come here, come early so you can get the stuff fresh. They also sell their dduk for around 50cents cheaper than the markup at grocery stores. I would recommend coming here if you are placing a large dduk order though for a party or whatnot. Remember, they are closed Tuesdays. Even the grocery stores don't carry their dduk on Tuesday. I've learned this the hard way, driving out from the Westside just to satisfy my dduk craving on a Tuesday.
