I adore this place a lot. It has a great spirit. The meals are marvelous. the service is dynamic and the personel is very professional. The price is fair. I definitely recommend.

I couldn't come close to finishing the dish, so asked for a to-go box. By the time I opened it the next day, the bottom of the plastic box had completely fallen apart. Most likely because the dish was still quite hot. Sad waste of food and not something that should have happened. :(

We came to this place for lunch. my friend recommended this spot. Well, it was a winning. The crew welcomed us with a smile and we had a fantastic feeling. The meal was yummy. We enjoyed every moment and we shall absolutely come back again. Warmly recommended.

Folks aren't lying. Their cioppino is "da bomb." And the house red pairs well. Service and ambiance could be better - hence the 4 stars.

Excellent Italian seafood. Probably some of the best cioppino I've ever tasted! And two people sharing it for $40 is a pretty great deal in SF! More than enough for both of us. We also had the cold cracked crab appetizer which was really good as well. Friendly and attentive staff. Good job!

This place is perfect from start to finish. I'm still dreaming about my scallop pasta dish (i subbed the white sauce with pesto, recommended a million times over) my best friends had our college reunion dinner here and let me tell you, Sotto mare made it beyond enjoyable and lovelyv

Had high expectations, met all of it. We ordered the bacala and the ciopanni, I think they are right about it being the best damn ciopanni.

My wife and I went there in 2015 with my uncle and his husband, and several of their friends who know Tanino personally. We were treated to some of the best Italian we’ve ever had. We still talk about the pasta dish Tanino himself whipped up, it was amazing. Excellent place, excellent food, amazing staff and def would go back if we were ever in LA again. Yeah, it’s cramped, but have you ever walked in Italy? It’s cramped there too.

I tried this spot before with my friend and I am addicted ever since. I like the excellent ambience and delicious dishes and beverages. Keep it up.
Thank you Tanino! We had a celebration there last night. 7 adults and a young child. We had created a set menu ahead. We worked with Melanie, who was a delight. She ensured the menu was just what we wanted and she seemed genuinely excited that we were holding our celebration there. We reserved a table on the outdoor patio. It was lovely. The food was delicious. We started with a bottle of champagne. The waiters were solicitous and checked in just enough. They were professional and also really seemed to care that all went well. We had bruschetta and calamari for appetizers, Insalata Cesare, then the pastas came next and were served family style: Tortelloni di Zucca (for me, this was the stand out dish), Risotto al Funghi. Then we had the choice of a main: Pollo Milanese, Salmone al Grigliata or Tagliata di Manzo. Three of us got the salmon, four got the beef. We were all extremely pleased. The beef was so tender and the veggies just perfect. The salmon with the spinach was flavorful and well balanced. We then chose between Torta Della Nonna, Tiramisu or Pana Cotta. Everyone loved the dessert. I had never been here before, but will for sure return. What a lovely experience. We all walked away full of delicious food, great drink, and having had an absolutely lovely time. Even though we were the last occupied table we never felt rushed. We stayed for 2 or 2.5 hours. Perfectly paced.

When we came here a few months ago, we thought this was really a great restaurant near UCLA and we were sad that our son was graduating this year. But this time we were greatly disappointed. The restaurant was busy last time and this time it was almost empty. Only one waiter served the restaurant and the food was very bad. My son said his dish was just microwaved. One special we ordered never came out. It seems like nobody cares about the service or the quality. It's amazing how much they charge for such mediocre food. My husband said it was like they didn't want to succeed.

An old-style Italian place in a 1919 building with high ceilings and classical decor featuring a very traditional Italian menu. Had the linguine with clams and it was a perfectly acceptable rendition of the old standard. Don't miss the grandmother's cake for dessert. The wine list could use some updating but we had a perfectly good barolo for $80

What a great place. The food, drink and atmosphere is wonderful. But Melani was the best. My son had just had open heart surgery. I was tired and upset. I stopped for a bite. She was so kind. She turned my whole evening around. Thank you so much.

Our neighborhood go to for great Italian when we are in Westwood. The staff is very professional and really well trained. The wine list is great and reasonable. The pastas are made fresh daily. We love the carbinara pasta. Tri color salad with toasted almonds is great and the minnestroni soup fantastic. We shared the lamb chops which were cooked perfectly.
