We visited The Apple Pan opened in 1947, it is one of the oldest diner places in Los Angeles, for family lunch and the experience was very pleasant. The place maintains that classic diner style, with a U-shaped bar, simple atmosphere and a retro air that makes it unique. We tried two of its more traditional options: the original 1929 Steakburger and the Ham & Cheese sandwich. I highlight the steakburger arrived juicy, well seasoned and with that characteristic smoky flavor of the griddle, typical of the old style of the place. The service was quick and friendly, and everything flowed smoothly, ideal for an informal family lunch. The Apple Pan is a classic Angeleno offering simple, quality food in a retro atmosphere full of charm. A perfect place for a quick family meal with traditional flavor. Quality forever!!!

This place is super mid. Tuna was good, burgers are a skip. Insane amount of tomato sauce, 40 pickles per burger, mtn of lettuce. Big old meh.

Amazing food in the coziest diner setting. Seating in first come first serve inside, but they do have outdoor seating. They also have a walk up window to order to go.

The young cashier/server served me my warm apple pie 10 minutes before serving me my hamburger 😂 By the time the hamburger arrived and eaten, the apple pie was cold. Not a lot of brain power with that one. Imagine management providing job training and explaining to someone they should serve the meal before the dessert lol.

This place feels like stepping straight into the late nineteen forties where nothing has changed in the best possible way. You sit at the classic U shaped counter, watch the cooks move with the same rhythm they have kept since nineteen forty seven, and take in the smell of burgers sizzling on the flat top. The Hickory burger with cheese is the star of the place with its smoky sauce, crisp lettuce, melted cheese and that simple old school construction that reminds you why the classics became classics. The pies are equally iconic with slices of apple, banana cream or chocolate cream that taste handmade and unchanged by time. The whole experience feels like Los Angeles history still alive and serving food with the same pride and charm it had the day it opened.

I've been going here for many many years, it's historic, it's L.A. - it's everything! If you are looking for the best burger, your new favorite place, or an old-fashioned good time, definitely worth a stop, or two stops, or many stops! :)

Been wanting to pop by for years and finally did on a rainy Saturday night. Just walk in, sit at the counter, grab a menu and someone will come by and take your order. Lovely staff and a warm cozy feel. There's a takeout window outside too on the side of the building. We tried a hickory burger, steak burger, fries and some pecan pie w/ ice cream.

The burgers where hot, delicious, and beefy, even as a single, and the hickory burger really had smoky hickory flavor making it stand out from something like In N Out or five guys.. I would skip the steak burger next time and get a couple hickory burgers.

The fries where crispy and tasty, and perfect after a liberal sprinkle of salt from the shakers. Nothing special, but no notes.

The pecan pie was the only pie available that night, but damn it was so sooo good... It seems like they may use maple syrup instead of just corn syrup in the pecan binder... The filling, the crust, the ice cream .. just perfection. I'm not really a sweets guy and I have found myself thinking about that pie the last few days.

They have gone cashless, so bring a card, but go here! It's been around for something like 80 years for a good reason.

Comfy, rushed, old school, touristy and local all at the same time and that’s what makes it great. Stools change over quickly and the loyalists know to ask for their fries well done and order their sandwich lightly toasted. I had the tuna salad on rye. Generous amount of tuna which was a hint on the sweet side with lots of crunchy iceberg lettuce. Ice cold can of Sprite, ketchup squirted on a small plate and passed down the counter. We didn’t need to order the fries crispy but I also would have liked them that way. Slice of chocolate cream pie to go. Chatted to a few of our neighbors. At 7pm on a Wednesday night there was a steady flow - 4 seats empty and within minutes full back up. My
Husband had the hickory burger and liked it. One time my friend ate here, sat next to a big time director - even shared some fries with him and didn’t know who it was until he left. That’s the beauty of LA, you just never know. Next time I’ll try the egg salad or grilled cheese.

I love this place. Their dedication to high quality burgers makes In n Out seem like cafeteria food by comparison. Try the cherry cream pie, it's very different than others I've tasted before and it's great beyond words.
