Old school burger joint with diner style seating indoors and picnic style seating outdoors. I opted to sit inside for the classic experience. Service was speedy. Ordered the hickory burger with cheese, fries and a banana cream pie to finish. The burger has a nice smokey flavor plus a tangy sauce. They do not play around with the lettuce - it’s thicker than the patty. Fries came out hot and crispy. Pie was also very good. Will try the apple next time.
the burgers were really good. tried the hickory(dbl) and the steak burger.the fries were ok. overall it's a great place if you want a good burger somewhere that has a lot of history and character. the pies were good too
Toooo Classic
It's an average place to go for a quick hamburger. The parking area-turned-outdoor eating place is sufficient for conversation. However, a little more ambiance (greeneries) would make it more appealing for customers.
First things first, the service is 11/10. Best service I’ve had in years, so hats off to that! The staff was very attentive, always filling up water, taking care of trash, and extremely friendly. They even drew a ketchup smiley face :)
Food wise, I got the regular burger with fries and the banana cream pie. The burger was solid but a little heavy on the relish for my taste. Nothing out of this world but will satisfy your burger craving. I tried the banana cream pie because I was recommended it, and even though I don’t LOVE banana, it was yummy! My favorite item was the fries—hot and crispy! I’d love to come back and try the other pies.
Please bring back the jukebox!!🤕
The burger doesn't have much seasoning & they add too many condiments making the burger sloppy to eat.

Overated
10 dollars for what is probably one of the most mediocre burgers of all time. 90% lettuce, and I usually love a lot of lettuce. Sweet pickles?! Come on.

I visited this quintessential LA burger establishment on a Wednesday, just before the bustling lunch hour. I was lucky to grab a seat at the bar, since I know it’s first come first seated. Service was quick and friendly by the man behind the bar, and my order was taken within minutes. My server promptly squirted ketchup from the bottle on a plate and placed it in front of me. Now That’s good service!
I ordered the Hickory Burger with cheese, which arrived hot and fresh in just a few minutes. The burger was good, as expected, but to fully enjoy it, you really need to be a fan of the hickory sauce. There’s not much flair in the presentation—no plate, just the burger wrapped up with a few napkins.
The strong hickory sauce overpowers the flavors of the meat, melted cheese, and bun, so if you’re hoping to savor those elements, you might be disappointed. The crisp iceberg lettuce overpowered the bite. With all the hype surrounding this place as one of the top-rated burger spots in LA, I was expecting more. While the burger was quick, fresh, and decent, it doesn’t quite live up to being in top 10 LA burger status.
As for the fries, they were standard thick-cut fries, nothing to rave about—they could easily be mistaken for grocery store frozen fries.
Apple Pie did look amazing and I will be back to try it, however I was full after this meal and could not find anymore room.
