This is the COOLEST place to go!! The music they play is sooo good. Not to mention the amazing food as well. I ordered the French toast with bacon and eggs and normally I’m hesitant to eat restaurant eggs but WOW these ones were so good. I’m so glad with what I ordered even tho EVERYTHING on the menu sounded so good!!! It tastes like home cooking!! I came in to study and do homework and it was the perfect atmosphere. Everyone was also super friendly and vibey!!! I 100% will be back!!! I didn’t ordered a drink because I brought my own water bottle so my meal with tip was $21.

Best little coffee shop with late hours, gluten free bagels, and incredible coffee. I will be coming here again soon!

Highland Cafe is one of those community cafes where you can come weekly and be known on a first name basis. My favorite latte in highland park is the james brown from here and their wraps and sandwiches are always a good not-too-heavy lunch. One of my fav local spots!

Love this place, have been missing the green goddess wrap, so asked about it today and the chef whipped a version of it up for me even though it’s not on the menu anymore! Chef Bridget, thank you! It’s epic! And I heard it’s also your bday!
It’s a nice & cozy place. I have come for coffee and breakfast and enjoyed it! Staff is super friendly as well.

I feel sick writing this. The coffee was horrible. It tasted acrid which indicates over-roasting or burned, as well as rancid, indicating the machines may be not properly cleaned. I felt sick after drinking the coffee, even though they made me a second type. I am not planning to go back as this first experience was really bad.
Got a mocha latte during their salsa/bachata event on Sunday, delicious, good atmosphere, nice service, very small biz/neighborhood/community vibes.

Joseph was so friendly and welcoming! We got to visit twice during our trip. We were welcomed back with enthusiasm and you can tell the people who work here are part of and enjoy their community. I would highly recommend this place for EXCELLENT food service and atmosphere. We DEFINITELY be back 😀

Had a salmon bowl, it tasted bad. Salmon was over cooked, strangely watery. The seasoning was not great. My husband ordered the chicken tacos and they were bland. The staff was very kind and brought our dog a bowl of water. I was bummed b/c I wanted to like the place more. Will try again- but will try breakfast.

Service and staff were great! Nothing on them whatsoever. The salmon bowl was blazing hot, def microwaved on blast and overcooked. The tinga tacos also very microwave blast and all stuck together. The fries were burnt and mostly just air. I’m sorry, I wish I liked it, for real, but I felt bad spending 60 bucks on did that just didn’t hit :/

This charming café on York Blvd is a delightful spot with both indoor and outdoor seating options, plus reliable WiFi. The interior is beautifully decorated with elements of car culture, featuring motorcycles and vintage road signs. They frequently host community events, including the Makina car club car show, Carrera Arroyo, and Mercado, which add to the vibrant atmosphere alongside various shops on York. The chilaquiles taste just like my mom used to make, and the Mayan Mocha offers the ideal touch of indulgence. Highly recommend--10/10!

I've been coming to Highland Cafe for years (may I dare say a decade even). Not only is the coffee good, but the breakfast/brunch/lunch menus are fantastic. Every ingredient is always fresh and perfectly paired.
My go-to's are the Sunrise Breakfast Bowl, Huevos Rancheros, Cali Burrito, or their Wrap special. On occasion, a mimosa pairs well with any of my above choices.
Indeed, the friendly yet laid back local vibes, along with the hard work that Arnie puts into his restaurant is testament to why this establishment is a Highland Park staple.

A masala chai for $7 that’s basically all
milk and sugar?
Chilaquiles verses are my favorite at this spot.
Excellent food and great customer service!
