If you have the time to take Roo's sourdough making class, please do! Very educational, fun and filled with scrumptious bites of bread. You can even purchase the freshest flour here from local millers and everything you need to bake your own bread. Small businesses like this are a gem. I wish Roo and his team nothing but the best!

I recently had the pleasure of taking Roe's three-hour sourdough bread-making class over the weekend, and it was such an amazing and fun experience! It was jam packed with valuable information. The atmosphere was great, and Roe, our instructor, made the potentially daunting task of sourdough bread making seem much more approachable.Roe expertly guided us through the entire process, breaking it down step by step. We had the chance to make our own dough in class using 100% freshly milled flour, and we even made homemade butter! Milling our own flour added an enjoyable element to the class along with having different condiments to eat our bread with. It was interesting to explore different grain sourdough bread varieties and I've decided to use only freshly milled flour in my future baking endeavors. When I shared the bread I made with my family and cousins, they were genuinely excited and curious to learn as well! Roe's class sparked a genuine interest in trying out various sourdough recipes for me and my family. I hope to see more sourdough classes in the future, perhaps exploring different creations like sourdough pancakes, pizzas, brioches, and desserts! Before his class, I found sourdough bread making to be intimidating, but now I feel confident and motivated to bake sourdough bread regularly for my household as well as to give as gifts!Roe's class served as a stepping stone for me into the world of bread baking. Thank you so much for making the class informative, engaging, and fun - it's a class that I highly recommend and would gladly take again!

Just got home from the whole grain sourdough class. We had all ranges of experience from total novices to seasoned bread bakers and we ALL learned something new today. If you want to try your hand at truly whole grain baking, starting with literally milling your own flour in class, you could not ask for a better experience than this. Highly recommended. The King's Roost is also an outstanding place to get flour, whole grains for milling, and even your own mill, as well as a ton of other baking supplies. I'll be stocking up again soon...

So glad my friend told me about this place! Just started making bread a few months ago and I will not buy flour any where else! Employees here are very knowledgeable and super willing to help you with any questions you may have! Make sure you check their hours before you go, they are pretty limited, BUT worth scheduling it on your calendar!

We had a great birthday party here with Nina. Great food, kids loved cooking and eating what they created. We are coming back for cooking classes.

The whole wheat sourdough class was an exceptional experience. Roo is a fabulous teacher. If you’re interested in deepening your knowledge of baking (at any level) and finding community to go with it, COME HERE! You won’t regret it.

Super friendly and helpful staff. They even provided me with a sourdough starter to make my own amazing bread. Looking forward to taking some instructional classes here in the future

Great place to pick up specialty flours and high-quality flours for aspiring bakers. They are friendly folks that are making access to Central Milling flour in SoCal possible at reasonable rates. Lots of stuff in stock. Biggest downside is weird hours. I hope they do open a location further south (maybe Long Beach?)

What a great shop! I was looking feverishly to buy a Mockmill 100 and all the online merchants I could find were out of stock. King's Roost had them! I live 1 1/2 hours away and it was worth every mile to get the Mill and lots of grain choices to go along. I'm so glad there's people in the world like Roe to help people like me that are new to the craft. We will make the drive whenever we need to stock up. The prices are great and the shop is quite nice.

Perfect shop with such a helpful owner. Just came here for the first time and got 75lbs of central milling flour. It’s great to have a local source for CM and be able to save on shipping costs.

Whole wheat/ spelt/ durum/ Khorasan/ rye berries. I was experimenting with different grains for growing my mushrooms and was pleased to find a place close enough to buy in bulk (50lb) or in smaller (5lb) quantities. Ordering online was easy and picking up was relatively quick. Overall a pleasant experience. Some of the various mushroom strains clearly prefer the rye, but have more grains to test. Needless to say, I will be back to buy bulk bags once I have concluded my own research.

I used to be part of a bread baking meet-up that organized bulk orders from Central Milling Company. The Kings Roost took over but kept prices the same. Even during covid and inflation prices gave been very wallet friendly. I love buying my flour and barley here in bulk.
