A couple of weeks ago my friend and I ate at this restaurant. We both got food poisoned. She threw up three times and I almost got to emergency room. We are sure it's the food at this restaurant as I saw another review that mentioned their food was raw. The steak tartar was completely raw, but we thought they should be trustworthy specially that we paid hundreds of dollars for a dinner for two people. Will never go back and I am sure they will soon be sued if they continue like this. Absolutely terrible!

We came to The Little Door to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I’ll start with the positives: the food was excellent—no complaints there. The wine was great as well, and the ambiance truly is romantic and whimsical, just like the photos suggest.

That said, while the food was very good, I felt it was overpriced compared to other high-end restaurants we’ve experienced in Los Angeles, especially considering the overall service.

Unfortunately, the service is what really brought the experience down. It felt a bit snobby and inattentive. I normally don’t dwell on how I’m treated, but there was a noticeable shift in tone once my husband mentioned we live in Ontario (California, not Canada). After that, the interaction felt different—almost as if we were being viewed as second-class guests. It did make me wonder whether that, or even our phone number area code, played a role in us being seated right next to the bathrooms, despite informing the restaurant ahead of time that we were celebrating our anniversary. The seating itself was fine, but it was hard not to notice that there were much nicer tables available for what was supposed to be a special occasion.

What could have still ended as a pleasant evening was ultimately spoiled at the end. After we paid the bill, the waiter approached my husband and questioned whether he had made a mistake, since only a $10 tip showed on the electronic payment. We calmly explained that we had left cash on the table to cover the full tip and that the $10 was simply extra. He did apologize, but followed it with, “sometimes people make mistakes,” which felt unnecessary and awkward.

I remained polite, but honestly, something about the entire experience just didn’t sit right. I’ve had far better, warmer, and more professional experiences at restaurants that are equally—or even more—high-end. This could have been a memorable anniversary dinner, but the service ultimately overshadowed what should have been a lovely night.

Dinner by candlelight, dark ambiance and a crackling fireplace in the back drop of this quaint spot was perfect for a date night.

Good restaurant food was great, only issue is that my wife and me had an upset stomach after eating.

THE KITCHEN IS A WORK OF ART

We wanted to take a little risk and choose a place we had never been to before for our friend’s wedding day, and it turned out to be an amazing experience. Unfortunately, I didn’t catch our server’s name, but she was incredibly sweet, funny, and made the night even better.

We ordered the filet mignon, and honestly, it was some of the best-quality meat I’ve ever had—cooked to absolute perfection. Huge shoutout to the bartender as well; the drinks were excellent, and he definitely didn’t hold back on the alcohol.

I will definitely be coming back for a date night. The atmosphere is so romantic, and the combination of great food and outstanding service made the evening unforgettable.

I went here for my girlfriend’s birthday and we had an absolutely phenomenal experience! The Little Door brings an amazing balance between service, food, and an incredibly romantic ambiance. They put great care into ensuring your special day goes as planned, and even create custom menus per your request. I had also requested a special spot a week prior to my arrival, and they took great care into ensuring that happened. The service is prompt and friendly, and food comes out very quickly. The dishes were fairly tasty, though I should note, this restaurant brings packs more of a punch ambiance-wise and not so much food-wise.

The gnocchi was good but there was a very overpowering flavor of cheese. The salad was very average for the price you pay, mainly kept afloat only by the crunch on top and the dressing—both of which could have been plated on more generously. The crudo and French onion soup stood out a little more above the rest though. The crudo was very fresh and flavorful, and packed a nice punch of acidity. I will note, it did require a bit of balancing out particularly because of how acidic it was, but it was nonetheless a nice (refreshing) appetizer. And for the French onion soup, they brought justice to an all-time classic dish. Finally, our Cod dish—which was presented so beautifully and brought high expectations—had a lot of potential to be phenomenal. The sauce, the presentation, the purees, the green beans and the sear of the COD were all done exceptionally well. However, the issue lay in the Cod itself, which we both found to be quite fishy and difficult to enjoy as the fishiness overpowered all the other flavors on the plate.

Nonetheless, the dishes were still enjoyable on our special day. I should also note that the dessert—early grey creme brûlée—was one of the best creme brûlées I had. It is super flavorful and very unique/unheard of. My only complaint is that it was quite hot and not traditionally cold as one would expect a creme brûlée to be. Overall, the Little Door would for certain be a place I would come back to and try, especially given its uniquely romantic vibes.

Food was really good. Service took was slow and people who were sat after us were taken care of and left far earlier than we did. It was a struggle to get the check.
