The food here is deeply flavorful, especially the Cajun and Creole-inspired dishes like the po’boys and seafood plates. The Cajun po’boy sandwich and Cajun fried shrimp are standout items—fresh, well-seasoned, and satisfying. Portions are generous, offering good value overall. The atmosphere is intimate and warm, with a relaxed neighborhood feel that suits the style of food. Service is friendly, and everything tastes fresh and thoughtfully prepared.

This place has such a cozy, welcoming feel—really feels like a true neighborhood spot. The staff is super friendly and always paying attention without being intrusive. Portions are generous, so you definitely leave full. Everything we tried was packed with flavor and tasted really fresh. I’d especially recommend the Cajun po’boy sandwich and the Cajun fried shrimp—they’re seriously good. Overall, it’s just a warm, easygoing place with great food and a solid local vibe.

I ordered The A. Fried Catfish Platter (via DoorDash) the portions are very small. I was definitely disappointed that the coleslaw was missing from my order. I hate eating catfish without Coleslaw. No napkins or utensils. The fish was seasoned well and the hush puppies were ok. However, please pay attention to details and make sure your customers have everything that comes with what they ordered. We have many places to choose from so that's the least you can do when someone chooses to eat from your establishment. I'm pissed about that coleslaw missing!

Popped in for lunch on a Friday. From the outside seams a little sketchy, weren't sure what to think. Went in, wasn't so bad looking. Ordered at counter, not able to personalize much, had to order 100% off the menu. Wait for food to come out wasn't bad. Food was hot, good portions and great flavor. FYI beignets are only available on weekends - bummer. Good overall. I recommend

I ordered a plate of jambalaya from here. I paid almost 20 dollars for a small container of jambalaya with a side of cornbread. The cornbread is the size of a small muffin, it is literally half the size of the container. I was very disappointed in my meal. It tasted ok, nothing to rave about either, does it rival anything from New Orleans? Definitely not.

Absolutely loved this place.
The New Orleans–style food was on point — everything we ordered was flavorful and comforting, especially perfect for sharing. You can tell a lot of care goes into the food.

The vibe is what really makes it special though. Cozy, lively, and genuinely feels like a little slice of New Orleans tucked away in LA. Great spot to hang out, eat, and actually enjoy your time without feeling rushed.

I used to walk past this place all the time back when I worked in Sherman Oaks. It always said “coming soon”… for so long it started to feel like that friend who says “I’m on my way” but hasn’t even left the house yet. Then I forgot about it.
Fast forward—we’re back in the area apartment hunting, walk by, and boom… it’s open. Had to stop in.
Right away—small, cozy, family-run. Menu isn’t all over the place, which I like. Fewer items usually means they’re actually dialing things in instead of playing menu roulette.
She got the red beans & rice, I went with the gumbo (she insisted—great call). And I’m telling you… this wasn’t “New Orleans inspired.” This was the real deal. Like, close-your-eyes-and-you’re-on-Bourbon-Street type flavor.
The red beans & rice? Packed with flavor, chicken sausage hitting just right. The gumbo? Loaded—crab, sausage, shredded chicken, okra… rich, deep, and legit. Not that watered-down, corporate “gumbo” you’d get somewhere like a factory line pretending to have soul. This had layers. Like a good song, it kept hitting.
Portions were no joke either. That takeout bag had some weight to it—felt like I was leaving the gym, not lunch. We had bottomless mimosas, three entrees, and still walked out under $100 before tip… with enough leftovers for at least two more rounds. That’s not a meal, that’s a weekend plan.
Owner’s there, hands-on, wall full of celebrity pics—clearly people know about this spot.
Parking? We walked, so no stress, but it’s right on Ventura and there’s plenty around.
Bottom line—this place is a sleeper. The kind of spot that sneaks up on you and then suddenly becomes your go-to. If you’re anywhere near Sherman Oaks, this isn’t a “maybe”… this is a “why haven’t you gone yet?”

Nothing can capture the real essence of being in and indulging in the food and treats of NOLA, but the Little Jewel of New Orleans comes quite close! The food is delicious and staff are welcoming and stay true to French Quarter hospitality. They have a huge variety of po’ boys, fried seafood, jambalaya, and other creole classics. I always enjoy the crispy and spicy fried catfish platter when I visit! They also have a little market section where you can shop goodies or take items home to make your own dishes.
