First off, the prices are pretty reasonable for the area. In the Arts District where you can expect your coffee to be $7, $9ish for a full cocktail is not bad! I've enjoyed everything here, the fried chicken in particular was well-seasoned. The only thing I thought was meh was the fried broccolini, the batter was a little too heavy for me so I didn't finish it.You seat yourself and can either order using the QR code at your table or try to flag someone down, but mobile order seems faster. There is also self-serve water. My only suggestion is that sometimes it can get quite sunny so would be nice to have some kind of shades when the sun is getting low and get in your eyes.Update: sounds like the shade issue has been resolved since I've last gone! Thanks Théron!

The vegan sandwiches were quite terrible but the beignets are better than Cafe Du Monde! Also, get the onion rings. Those were really good too.

Decided to check this place out since it's just down the street. You order from a QR code on the table and pay on it too and they'll bring the order out to you. The chicken and waffle was pretty good, I liked the butter and syrup. The blacken shrimp po boy was small but packed with flavors. I liked the fresh greens in it too, the bread was a bit hard though. They also serve drinks here. You sit in this small outdoor area which is pretty peaceful for downtown although the table is uneven since it's set up in a parking lot.

My fav are the beignets… I got here at 1230p and they only had beignet and coffee… exactly what I needed.

Unsustainable.Prices do not reflect the disposable plates and cutlery and cups they use.The food is good and they have a nice vibe going but the experience of eating was really low and i will not be back just because they are unsustainable amd charging restaurant prices at a take out joint

Come here if you'd like to go on a mystery adventure! This establishment leaves room for so many questions that you won't leave bored. Where is the entrance? Do I order then seat myself? Do we wait to get seated? Is there an entrance in the front? The back? The side? Oh, there's parking in the back? Do I just sit? Where's the menu? Let me help you out! Still unsure what the main window is used for but if you look to the right of it, you'll see a door - this door is not the entrance. Look a little further to the right & find a table on the side of the building by the paid parking or plentiful street parking. You'll see another would-be entrance but don't go in there. That's for employees only. If you're coming from the paid parking lot and see a double door though, don't go there either. That's not an entrance. Go to the side of the building w faux grass and find a table. Can you spot a napkin dispenser anywhere? If you can, you're in luck. Continue the quest and look for the QR code. You've made it to the next feat during your time here. Kind of a turn off when I came. The runner came by with my food and sat it in front of a completely different table - he didn't understand how the table numbers worked either. At any rate, my food was already touched by a person at that other table and the waiter scooped it back up, apologized for the mix up, then proceeded to sit the plate in front of me. Can I just get a new one? Since the other person already started to deconstruct this one?Waffles were hard and stale. I had to fight it w my plastic utensils that they offer for dine in and probably went through a few forks before even being able to take a bite. The chicken was actually not bad and was the star of the experience, hence my rating.

Love the chicken and waffle so much that the “eggshell” waffle is spongy soft! It’s super chill to eat at the alley, food will be delivered to your table after mobile ordering by scanning the QR code. feels like a take out with seats offered. (yes dog friendly)have to say my table was wobbling and a bit dangerous to eat on. this happens a lot at outdoor restaurants just it’s a little struggling

I was welcomed in warmly and got assistance by the staff. Ordering our drinks and food was extremely simple and quick. And the atmosphere is between the people and decor was wonderful. I can't wait to revisit!

The food is good but the service is the worst. I'd go elsewhere. Feels like a typical sit down kind of establishment but when I went over the weekend there wasn't even anyone there to greet customers, you had to sit down and somehow figure out that you had to have a napkin dispenser at your table to scan a qr code, where you order online and the poor food runner had to figure out where the orders went. Each napkin dispenser has a unique code but not all tables have a napkin dispenser.I saw some people come in, sit down for a while without understanding how things worked. And there was nobody to ask. I offered my napkins to someone else so they could order but they didn't want to confuse our runner so they just left.A family with a baby had to wait until someone else's food was delivered (long after they sat down) to ask about menus. The one employee quickly answered and disappeared as fast as possible. My single sandwich took over a half an hour. There was no one I could talk to, no one to give me an update, the runner would deliver orders and disappear inside as fast as possible. When I was here a few months ago, the food was remarkable. The bread on the breakfast po boy was crispy, sausage had a snap and tons of flavor, absolutely crave-inducing, but this time the sandwich was soggy and disappointing. All in all, I'd find another breakfast place.

Great Cajun food! I've been to New Orleans a couple times and this place doesn't disappoint. The beignets are crispy, moist, and fluffy and absolutely delicious. Check in and you get free beignets! The chicken and waffles were buttery, crispy, moist and delicious, and so was the fried chicken and andouille sausage po boy. Hibiscus tea also packed with flavor. Fast service, outdoor seating was pretty nice and well shaded. 5/5

On a rare Sunday brunch outing to DTLA, we hoped The Rising Sun was an apt way to start our day, but it felt like we could have skipped it for other options in the area. The vibe must surely feel different at night for dinner service. For brunch, however, the location and space is lacking...unless you enjoy looking out at an empty street lot and what looks like a tired patio space. We were half a heartbeat from walking out, but our party had already gotten water and talked to the waiter. Honestly, if you're looking for a nice vibe for brunch, Rising Sun is not the best fit. There seemed to be a decent amount of to-go orders so that may be a fine option. The food was a bit of a mixed bag. The chicken and waffles was just ok. The chicken was dry, the waffles were fine. My breakfast sandwich was actually pretty good with nice bread, fluffy egg, and sausage so I'd recommend this if you're ordering. The beignets were a bit of a letdown. This ain't Du Monde. Shrimp and grits was fine, but not particularly memorable. The waiter was great and really cool so we felt bad that we didn't have as positive an experience for brunch. Dinners might be different, but I'd look down the street for other brunch options.
