So it took me ten years to get back to the Spare Room, as it turned out, but I liked it just as much the second time around. I went for a work party for maybe 40 to 50 people, with buffet-style food and an open bar. It was an ideal venue for that kind of event, with plenty of places to sit and chat, in addition to those pretty bowling lanes. The food was good, though I don't remember what it all was, and I thoroughly enjoyed the cocktails. The Thunderclap was probably my favorite, with blanco tequila, Douglas fir, ginger, honey, fizz, aquafaba, lemon, and mezcal mist. I also liked Green For Danger, with mezcal, dry vermouth, Lustau manzanilla sherry, cucumber lime cordial, and absinthe. The Day For Night was a nice gin drink with St. George Botanivore, Campari, sweet vermouth, lemon, and egg white. On the whiskey side, I enjoyed the Goldenback, made with Woodford Reserve bourbon, Lustau amontillado sherry, peach, and salted honey. The Spare Room remains, by default, my favorite spot for a night out in Hollywood. It's a great bar, and especially nice for a private event.

Just had an amazing 40th birthday celebration here and can't recommend it highly enough. We priced out a ton of venues, particularly in Los Feliz/Silver Lake where we live, and Spare Room was hands down the best option and worth the 'schlep' from our side of town. Great cocktails, stellar pre-order food options (you can order there but for bigger groups it's worth pre-ordering), the bowling was a super fun activity to keep people entertained, and all of the servers were very attentive and friendly. Whether you're looking to host a party or just a fun night out with friends, Spare Room should be on your short list for sure. Also the hidden photo-booth! Always a sucker for fun details like that.

We visited on Saturday night to get a cocktail in the historic Roosevelt hotel. We were visiting from out of town and once we arrived, we were greeted and asked about a bar we could go to. We were very nicely escorted to the Spare Room. We sat at the bar and received great service from the bartender. He made us two speciality cocktails that were amazing. They were so good, we stayed for a second round. Great vibe and amazing service.

They do not post accurately to their website. After seeing a vacancy I visited the location, to which I was denied access as they failed to inform they were booked. This place has fallen far from its reputation. I would certainly not gamble with this location but somewhere modern and transparent

Both drink and bowling service were excellent, and bowling and cocktails were a super cool combination. Overall, I liked the vibe of The Spare Room - the decor was thematic, we used chalkboards to keep score, the couches were comfy, and the rest of the hotel looked really unique. However, I didn't love the drinks and the venue was way too loud.

Coolest bar in the area. Big speakeasy vibes with low light, wood tones throughout. Bar is smaller with about 5 stools but there is wait staff that attends to the tables. Most of all there's the bowling alley, a draw on its own. 100% worth even just a drink at.

Great hotel bar with two bowling lanes that we used. Good drinks, manual scoring with what was essentially a bowling valet. Everything was top notch from entrance to exit. Highly

Service: the best bowling service I've ever experienced, really enjoyed the fact that we have someone keeping score on an old school chalkboard. The vibes here are immaculate! Drinks: also top notch! There are only two lanes so super intimate and the vibes are really cosy! Perfect to share a lane among 4-6 people. After bowling they have a board game area with connect 4 and Jenga which is also nice to spend time after a bowling game.

What an awesome experience. Don’t go out in Hollywood often and was looking Dr something after the Hollywood Bowl. Great vibe. I’ll bowl next time!

The most beautiful bowling alley I've ever seenI came here for a private party this weekend. I've been to the hotel for other events a handful of times, but have never gone to The Spare Room until now. I'm really not a huge bowling person, but had such a wonderful time here. The aesthetics really make the experience. Everything from the decor to the drink selections feel paused in time. The balls are sleek and simple, with only two lanes that look like they could come out of a Wes Anderson movie. My only wish was that the view wasn't obstructed by covering the massive windows with film. I really enjoyed bowling, and found that I wasn't bad at it! The handsome bowling attendant also gave us all tips and tricks. He was great - knowledgeable and charming, and he kept score the whole time too!I kept drinking the Drag Queen's Gambits all night. I loved the thought of putting sesame oil in a gin cocktail, and it was absolutely delicious. I'll be trying to replicate them at home for my husband and I sometime soon. I had a lemon drop as well that I really enjoyed as a nightcap. Since it's such an intimate venue, I expect that having the whole place to yourself is a better experience than just booking one lane on a random night. That being said I would certainly throw a party here for my husband in the future.
