Just had an amazing 40th birthday celebration here and can't recommend it highly enough. We priced out a ton of venues, particularly in Los Feliz/Silver Lake where we live, and Spare Room was hands down the best option and worth the 'schlep' from our side of town. So it took me ten years to get back to the Spare Room, as it turned out, but I liked it just as much the second time around. I went for a work party for maybe 40 to 50 people, with buffet-style food and an open bar. It was an ideal venue for that kind of event, with plenty of places to sit and chat, in addition to those pretty bowling lanes.
