The Village Bakery is one of my favorite bakeries in the area. They serve breakfast and lunch, but the real standouts to me are the numerous baked goods they have on display. Almost everything I've tried has been really quite good and generaly not overly sweet. Some personal favorites are the Fightin' (Almond) Cake, Lemon Rosemary Cake, and vegan kitchen sink type cookie (can't remember the actual name of that one).
They make super cute and creative treats for the various holidays. For Halloween this year, we tried:
- Apple Hand Pie: Simple but well made with a flaky crust
- Vegan Chocolate Skull Cake: was actually kind of disappointed with this. It looked cool but there was a bit of an odd flavor.
- Chocolate Pudding Graveyard: My favorite of these, with a rich, not too sweet, dark chocolate base and cute white chocolate ghosts
- Witch Finger and haunted house Sugar Cookies: intricately designed, good, standard sugar cookies
In my experience, the people working there have been very friendly and upbeat. It's counter service, there's seating inside and a few tables outside, and I've never had trouble getting a table.

Very average food.
We enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and the fresh pastries that made our breakfast feel special. The lunch menu offered a nice variety of sandwiches and salads, and the service was attentive and friendly. Overall it was a pleasant place to relax and refuel

I needed the very best, most unique and definitely best tasting desserts for a celebrity dinner and I cannot find the words to describe how off the chart every single person’s reaction was to both vegan and non vegan desserts. And we had BAKERS at the table, too!! Malibu and Woodland Hills are far but they all want to try everything soon!!!! You all made me look so GOOOOOD!!!!!

I stopped by for brunch with a friend and was surprised by the carnitas breakfast burrito—it was stuffed with tender meat and crispy potatoes. Their sourdough bread was baked in-house and tasted fresh. They offer iced coffee in mason jars, which felt homey. There's a community bulletin board for local events. Affordable and unhurried—great small-town vibe

Really amazing food and bakery. One of my favorite places in LA
Amazing breads and croissants. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Delicious coffee.
I was excited to see new vegan items on the menu this spring but even more excited to taste them, and the custom tea lattes are simply wonderful.

I spent a week in Atwater and it took one day for the staff to know my order. Everyone is super friendly and the food is delicious. Try the house-made granola bar. Best I’ve ever had!
