I nice stop over on your travels! I specifically came because I saw that they had coffee cakes that resembled high school coffee cakes, And it didn't disappoint. Great variety of food menu items. I had the croissant ham sandwich, and my wife had the avocado toast. Have plenty of snacks and drinks to choose from, Definitely coming back for the coffee cakes!

I love this place! I'm a local and it's my go to post hike spot. The food, music and service is typically great! However, today that was not the case. When I walked in a man wearing a village hat (I'm guessing an employee, boyfriend or a regular) was talking to the cashier. The cashier did not acknowledge me at all and continued to converse with this guy. He looked back at me and assumed because I was on the phone I wasn't ready to order. I gave them another minute or two to chat, but after 5 mins. I politely asked if I could order and then he could finish his story once I was done. The cashier took my order and kept calling me sweetie in a condescending manner. I'm guessing she assumed I was younger then her. However I'm in my 40s and just a youthful looking petite lady. Then as I told her what drink I wanted she made me repeat it twice. It sadly gets worse. I always love the amount of turkey they put in the sandwiches but she must have told the woman cooking she was bothered that I interrupted her conversation with the guy. Bc there was a tiny amount of meat and the avocado wasn't the freshest either. Then as I'm leaving the cashier walks out of the place with sandals on?! I'm sure that isn't safe or sanitary for a restaurant employee. I wonder how the health department would feel about that. I sadly won't be back anytime soon and don't recommend anyone else does either! I'll be sure to tell my hiking buddies about my horrible experience.

Try the ceviche, try the chicken bacon avocado sandwich, and try the grilled cheese! They've got a little bit of everything there, and if you're lucky, you will be waited on by Sharlyn, her recommendations have never let me down, her service goes above and beyond, and she never forgets a thing.

From the sweet cashier girls to the lovely woman in the back of house to the food if i could rate higher i would! Not only is the food tasty but the atmosphere is peak, i stop by at least 3x a weeks and each and every time i'm greeted with the warmest hellos that alone keeps me coming back! The iced lattes are always made to perfectly & the food is always delicious. 10/10

This is a great café! I worked here all day and enjoyed the food. The Wi-Fi was also good enough to connect and check emails. The service was also really amazing and they have tons of menu options. Highly recommend if you're in the neighborhood and can walk over. This business is also very community driven which I appreciate it. They have local events and make sure to connect with their customers. Check it out!

I had high hopes since I grew up in the area and the revival of the store was in full swing. Grubhub order: Turkey & ham sandwich around $13. Bread felt old, like it was out all night and not covered properly. The bread just fell apart. My 12 yr old could've made a better sandwich. Clam chowder was ok. No utensils. Might give this place another try, but leaning towards might not.

I recently visited a cozy spot, The Village Mart & Deli in East LA and had a pleasant experience overall. It was in a fairly desolate street, but with a private lot. Although the service was a bit slow when I walked in on a chilly day, the delicious free coffee I received after checking in on Yelp made up for it. They offer a variety of freshly brewed coffee flavors, which I enjoyed mixing. I ordered a lox bagel on an everything bagel, which was delicious, although the limited indoor seating may not be ideal on colder days. However, I appreciated the wide selection of plant-based snacks, like the jerky and a vegan pecan crumble. There was also fresh-looking ceviche available. Another thing I appreciate about this place is the fact that they are willing to spend a little more for compostable takeout containers. I'll definitely be back to try the ceviche and explore more of their menu, including the vegan pecan crumble. Overall, a promising spot with room for improvement in service.
