Im so glad I finally discovered Yama! I am in love with the Yama special California roll - I’m disappointed to see that it’s not available to order separately on Door dash - Please add it there! The only thing I haven’t loved so far was the unagi roll, it had a rubbery texture. Maybe I just was unlucky with that one. Overall really good sushi! I also love the rest of the market with the Japanese gifts :)

I pass by Yama a lot on my way to and from the Santa Monica Airport. I typically drop by the Chipotle next door to pick up something quick but decided to check out Yama. And am I glad I did! The 5 pc nigiri Bento Box was exactly what I was looking for in a medium/light lunch. I was especially impressed with the karaage. Even after my 10 minute drive home, it remained crispy and reasonably warm. The sauce it’s soaked in is incredibly tasty and satisfying. The cold noodles were a nice simple side and the nigiri was solid. Expect to wait about 10 minutes for them to make the box freshly for you. I will definitely be coming back here and telling my friends about it.

This is our neighborhood sushi go to. I also always pick up with out of town guests- they love seeing the market aspect. The fish is so fresh, it’s fast, easy and affordable. The chicken katsu is a must. Carrot cake mochi with the frozen desserts is to die for.

Connected to Chipotle and the entrance is on the side of the road (don't miss it!). If I'm ever feeling sashimi, I always come to this spot. Fresh sushi grade fish with great options at such a cheap price. The chefs are so kind and always give a little bit extra fish. I usually buy about five filets for $30. They also have other options in the fridge like maki rolls and purchasable snacks. They have indoor and outing seating if you don't want to wait to eat your fish. There's no comparison to what a restaurant can offer you at this price and quality.

Delicious sushi! Learned about this place years ago through a yelp event and have made multiple trips back to get their freshly made sushi. So glad this place is close to me as I love love sushi!

Discovered Yama through Instagram, drawn in by a video showcasing how she got a whole plate of sashimi for only $36, and the visit lived up to the hype--AMAZING. Arrived 15 minutes before opening, and there was already a line of eager customers. Once inside, I headed to the back where they sell sushi. Grabbed a number, and when called, I selected slices of sashimi sold by the pound. Opted for 3 slices of fish which came out to around 33 sashimi slices for $36, featuring salmon, bluefin tuna, and Hamachi--all impressively fresh. They offer the choice to have the slices cut into sashimi pieces or left whole; however, Nigiri slices aren't an option.Yama also offers unagi don, chirashi bowls, and a variety of other fish. For larger gatherings, you can pre-order sushi platters on their website for convenient pickup. The market also stocks other Japanese goodies. The space provides both indoor and outdoor seating, and there's a parking lot available. The overall experience was fantastic, and I'm definitely planning a return visit.

I dream of this place when I’m not in LA. Best recent (ish) addition to the neighborhood. The freshest fish, the best prices, easy/fast service. I have to try hard not to go there every day when I’m back home! My dog cries when I am eating the salmon because I once mistakenly gave him a bite and he must have thought it was the best thing ever too! Also… I would have never tried the giant California rolls except that the owner was there the first time I visited and told me I had to try them… he was right… they are the best I’ve ever had! This place makes me so happy because it’s great and I love what it brings to our neighborhood.

Out of this world… It is not that expensive, considering the quality of fish you get. Highly recommended ⭐️
