I don’t think this is a Japanese or a sushi restaurant.
Although they have some staff that are definitely fresh out of Japan (and very sweet) the food is a weird attempt at being creative, but misses the mark.
Bag of grated cheese on top of the dragon roll? No I’m not joking.
Cucumbers as big at your pointer finger in both the salmon Lemon roll (which includes the lemon skin) AND in some other tuna based roll.
Craziest part is the soy sauce for dipping is the kind that is used in Chinese cooking. It’s not meant for sushi. Not meant for eating raw. It’s thick and heavy.
Why would they serve this?
What happened to Fansei!? So much better.
This place is REALLY bad.
Do not waste your time.

Jack Manjiro is a fantastic spot for sushi and Japanese comfort food with a great drink selection. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, especially at the counter where you can watch the preparation up close.
The sushi was fresh and beautifully prepared — the tuna and uni were standout pieces. We also tried the kasu-udon, which had a rich, flavorful broth and tender beef, perfect for a comforting dish. The tuna dish topped with crispy green onions added a nice creative touch.
What makes this place special is the drink pairing options. The sushi went perfectly with a glass of Koshu wine, and they also have a solid selection including Pinot Noir, Japanese chuhai, and premium beer.
Great food, relaxed vibe, and excellent quality overall. Definitely a place I’d come back to!!

Great udon and lovely service!
I went here for a 9pm reservation and had a horrible experience. We left at 11:15 because, this late into the night there was no where else to go even if we wanted to. It took us 60 minutes to receive one item in our order. Our appetizer came last. They forgot what we ordered. Our waiter never checked in to see if we wanted anything in the meantime or apologize for the delay. Mind you there are only 10 tables in there. While we were eating our last roll, the chefs were putting on their coats to leave, the waiters were pouring sake for themselves AND we watched our waiter walk out the door because he “clocked out”. LEAVE THE RESTAURANT. Without acknowledging us. Unbelievably unprofessional. As an establishment this was insane work. If you want sushi with a side of poor service - go here!

Arrived with a reservation but was ignored by the waiter for sometime before even being greeted
Victor served me fish from another customers order that had returned to the kitchen because they left before it could be served to them and then was lied to about it
I literally sat at the bar and watched him do that
The food was mediocre for the $180 I paid
The servers were painfully slow to take finished plates away while we were sitting at the bar

Sushi was great. Service so-so perhaps because it was Valentine’s Day and they were busy. We had problems getting soy sauce, water, and napkins. It’s also on the expensive side; particularly versus the prior establishment here; Fansea. Fansea was possibly better and lower priced. Nevertheless, willl give this another try sometime on a less busy night.

Love this place! Apparently, the restaurant group has a bunch of restaurants in Japan and this is the first in the US. The salmon and tuna nigiri was so good, and their japanese ramen soup was insanely good. Nice neighborhood spot feel, with amazing food

I do NOT recommend this place. What was planned for an enjoyable, simple dinner out, turned into a complete, horrible experience. The food was really sub-par and I wont bother with the details of it all, but I do not enjoy having to be rushed. In addition to the horrible service and the fish (which was over-priced for what we ordered), I got a parking ticket because the meters where forced, 20 minute increments.

Jack Manjiro is my new favorite neighborhood sushi spot in MB. Owned by a talented Japanese chef, it delivers truly delicious, fresh sushi! The service is unbelievable—warm, attentive, and super accommodating, making every visit feel special. Cozy, welcoming vibe and genuine hospitality make it the perfect local gem. Highly recommend! 🍣

We had a great time in the spot that took over for Fansea. We absolutely loved the old spot, so we couldn't have been happier to see the sushi chef back in action! We had two rolls, spicy tuna and the lemon salmon (would highly recommend the lemon salmon roll, so fresh), the flounder carpaccio (amazing), garlic edamame and yellowtail sashimi. The fish is amazing! They are in a soft opening phase, so try not to be too harsh on the reviews. Can't wait to be back! The service was incredible.

The best udon I’ve ever tried! The atmosphere is cool, and the waiter was extremely polite. Will definitely come back! Would give it 10 stars if I could.

We went to their soft launch right before Christmas and while I can’t speak for the sushi because we didn’t order any, the udon was absolutely amazing, authentic and the service was great! We loved the atmosphere and vowed to come again. We parked on the street. It’s LA, so lower your expectations but it wasn’t impossible. It’s worth a try if you’re wondering. The prices are reasonable.
