The Strand House

Dined at The Strand House for my daughtera birthday. It was fantastic. The food and service were amazing. I would definitely recommend The Strand House.

I have been eating at this nice restaurant with ocean view since the opening. I had my New Year’s Eve dinner with my wife. I ordered a dried aged steak $84 that I had it before. This steak was not dried aged, tough, taste old meat. Side dishes; spinach mushy with no taste and potatoes. This is a reminder of cafeteria food. I am very disappointed in quality of steak. It ruined my New Year. This is my first time to complain and warn other customers. I ate frequently at Eddie V, Joey’s, Flemming steakhouse but I chose this restaurant because of location and previous good experiences. My guess is that a new Chef took a short cut with cheap beef quality and not cooked properly. I had the same steak previously with good taste.

Have been going there for 10 years, but last night, New Years Eve dinner was the worst I have ever had. Husband's Ribeye, $84 was tough, & tasted old! The little potato dish along with it was bland & tasted like cafeteria food. Our waiter was very good, & was not his fault. Will never go back. Place was so overwhelming loud you could not even have a conversation.

Only got desert here. Pumpkin cheese cake was great and fairly priced given location and resturant type. Was shocked about the price of sparkling water. (But live and learn, my fault for not asking) Great view of the pier!

Aidan is quite the host! Wife and I went here and he congratulated the both of us on our 10 year anniversary. (We have been married for 47 years). Big fan of their drinks, wife loves her martinis.

View was spectacular. Environment was lovely. Parking can be tricky. Food was delicious and customer service was lovely. Food took a while to come out.

I reserved a table here for an important client dinner and every single one of my expectations were blown away. Incredible service, food, and atmosphere. It was a big hit with my group. I visited this restaurant on Saturday, 12/13/2025 at 4pm to celebrate my mom’s 60th birthday. We were a party of 5, plus my 1 year old baby. It pains me to say that in my 35 years living in the USA, this was the first time I really felt racially singled out when trying to enter a restaurant.

From the moment we arrived, the two hosts at the reception were noticeably unfriendly. First, they told us that dinner service hadn’t started and that we would need to wait at least an hour to be served. We considered leaving, but it was getting cold and late. I saw people getting in so we decided we’d just go in as well and start with appetizers until main dishes starts being served.

Even then, they refused to seat us. Their next excuse was that there wasn’t enough space for a stroller. I asked if they had a high chair, and they said yes. I offered to put the stroller back in the car and carry my baby instead. After doing that, they still wouldn’t let us in… This time saying the restaurant was “reservation only”.

If it truly had been reservation only from the start, we would have understood. But the shifting excuses, the lack of honesty, and the way we were treated made the situation feel deeply discriminatory. It wasn’t just about being turned away, it was the feeling of being judged and dismissed before we even had a chance. It was heartbreaking, especially because it was my mom’s 60th birthday. She didn’t want a big celebration, but I wanted to make her day special. The only request she asked of me was she wanted to dine with an ocean view. I wanted to give her that so badly… We ended up going another place with an ocean view, but the silence as we were driving to the next restaurant was deafening with hurt.

What should have been a joyful celebration for my mom ended with us walking away hurt and confused. No family should have to experience that, especially on a day meant for love and togetherness.

To the two ladies at the reception: this review is not written to get you in trouble. I’m sharing this because I genuinely hope it encourages reflection. When you work at the front of a restaurant, you set the tone for every guest who walks in. Your words, your expressions, and your willingness to treat people with fairness and dignity matter deeply. You may not realize how your actions affect others, but they can shape someone’s entire day. Or in our case, a milestone moment we’ll never get back. I hope that in the future, you’ll choose kindness, consistency, and respect for every person who walks through those doors.

Hosts are lazy, forget to sit people, tables are miniscule, acoustics make the whole place loud, food is just fine (lower mid quality), but prices are high.

Skip it and get better food for less elsewhere.

The Strand House in Manhattan Beach is absolutely exceptional. From the moment you walk in, the ocean views take your breath away. The food is creative, beautifully presented, and packed with flavor—each dish feels thoughtfully crafted. Service was attentive, friendly, and professional, making the entire experience feel seamless. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between upscale and welcoming. A must-visit spot for a special night out, and I can’t wait to return!

It was my first time and I was able to sit with window seating , I enjoyed the lavender mint tea, Brussels sprouts and the Fideo de mare will definitely visit again and highly recommend.

Had a lovely lunch with out-of-town guests. Food was better than i remembered and the service was excellent. Had a great table next to the window at the end which was quieter to accommodate on member of the party who was hearing impaired and it was perfect.

Beautiful restaurant and amazing views brought us there for a second visit. Food and service were great but it is always rather loud.

This is a great place to celebrate with friends. Food was AMAZING!. Quietly attentive service. Views are spectacular.
