The owner was incredibly friendly and a great conversationalist. My mom and I loved chatting with him while tasting the wines. Cute dogs are a bonus! The path in is just a bit tricky to drive.

Wonderful experience with family after our beautiful 4 days Yosemite trip! Super relaxing. You will have some furry company too. Sign posting on the way is good so you will have no problem reaching the venue until it says “customer parking” ! We loved Marlot! Got a bottle from here . Overall amazing stop!

After spending a few days in Mariposa and Yosemite, we planned on ending our trip with a visit to the Butterfly Creek Winery. We checked out of our room at 9:30 am and the winery didn’t open until 11. We really wanted to check this place out and taste/buy some wine so we killed time until they opened. Their website shows that they are open Tuesday through Sunday. It’s a long drive out in the country and not easy to find. When we got there about 11:30 am two friendly barking dogs greeted us. There were cars in the driveway. The winery was all locked up with a closed sign. It was clear to us that they were there as we saw movement in the windows and the dogs barking was very loud. WE looked around the grounds for someone to help us but no one came out. Considering we drove all the way out there (gas was $5.69 gal) and came during their business hours, we felt very insulted that they completely disregarded us. It was so obvious that they were there and we took it as a big eff you that they wouldn’t at least greet us and apologize for closing without notice. We waited about 20 and finally left. We’ll never go back and I will let others know how we were treated!BEFORE YOU GO CALL SO YOU DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME LIKE WE DID!

Highly recommended, wonderful winery, great owner and atmosphere, wine is delicious. The owner was very gracious to stay open later for us though we arrived late. We had a fantastic time talking with him, such a fun sweet man. We felt so welcomed and relaxed there, definitely worth the drive out!

Long drive, one lane only. Easy to find. Worth the trip. Wine is tasty. We had picnic, nice tables.

Stopped into Butterfly Creek Winery to pick up some bottles to take back to the UK. We met Bob and had a good chat about his time in Yosemite. Nice wine too!

Love this family owned winery! They are all so kind. And you can bring your own food and make it a fun picnic day!

The owner is one of the most cordial and inviting people I met in Mariposa. My girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed talking to him and hearing his stories. He even brought us into the back to try some of his newer unbottled wines and give us a tour of his workspace! Highly recommend checking this place out

Bob and Darlene are hospitable and very friendly. This is definitely a hidden gem but also a must go if you're in the yosemite/mariposa area. They are welcoming and we had a great time... wish I could put 6 stars cause they also has dogs there ❤

We had an airbnb nearby and showed up to this winery. While pulling up there were three dogs that came up to the car seeking some love and affection! When we went in, there was another couple there. The guy provided us some free tastings and we left with a bottle! Cute little shop attached from local sellers.

It was so pleasant to talk with the owner Bob (agree with the other review - probably the most cordial person around this area) and hear his personal stories: one-man winery, encounters with wild lives, time with family inside Yosemite … Thanks for the hospitality!P.S. The place was named very adequately - we saw lots of butterflies by the creek!Great place to avoid Yosemite crowd (come before 1pm)

More people need to know about the wineries in this beautiful region! My friends and I spent a weekend in Oakhurst and this was the only winery we had time to stop at. We were the only ones there on a Saturday afternoon, which was lovely (it was definitely due to how smoky it was that day). The grounds are beautiful and relaxing, they have two dogs who welcome you as you drive in, and the wines are super affordable compared to other California wine regions. Signage was super helpful as we made our way to the tasting room. The owners' dogs are the absolute cutest and seem to have found their roles at the winery - with one leading our car to the parking spot and one leading us to the actual tasting room from our car. Once we made our way inside their quaint tasting room, owner Bob came out and greeted us with so much enthusiasm. There was no one dull moment with Bob that is for sure! You can learn his whole life story during the tasting. All four of us did a tasting, in which the fee is waived if you buy a bottle to go. One thing we do wish is that Bob would've asked us what we wanted to do - either do a tasting, glass, or bottle. He just assumed we wanted to do a tasting, which ended up being totally fine, but I think we were hoping to sit in his beautiful outdoor area to take in the vast winery sights. The tasting room has a little gift shop full of little trinkets and souvenirs. I definitely recommend checking out Butterfly Creek!

We ended up here on a last minute, unplanned whim and are so glad we ventured out to see it. Fabulous wines and a lovely setting to sip them.
