Owner Massimo comes from Ravenna and the food is authentic Italian trattoria food from Emilia-Romagna. Simple and delicious. Homemade pasta, including tortelli di zucca and lasagna. The pollo alla Bolognese was satisfying, especially if you have a big appetite. Service was prompt and friendly. The outdoor seating is the best choice, although if you are inside you might get Alessio as your waiter, a cheerful server from Montepulciano.

Fantastic Italian restaurant in a charming setting. The staff was very friendly and we met the owner as well. We went on a Saturday night at 6:30pm with our dog in mid December and had about a 30 minute wait for outdoor seating without a reservation. The service was great and food was authentic Italian. Free parking is available along the street.

This was an unfortunate visit for us; I was very much looking forward to this dinner. The two homemade pastas were gone by 7 when we arrived one of which I had planned on getting but I fully understand - no issue there. I decided to pivot and I went with the chicken parm. It was... okay, nothing to write home about. I personally like a little crust on the breadcrumb but there wasn't a millimeter of chicken that wasn't covered in marinara. Okay...personal preference, not a problem and the marinara was good albeit everywhere. The cheese on top wasn't put under a broiler, if it was it was not for long enough. The cheese was barely melted let alone given some color. Fine, I can deal with that.
What I couldn't deal with was the focaccia which was completely stale. Two types delivered to our table and both were stale. Let me be clear, I don't mean it wasn't piping hot and sponge like fresh out of the oven. I mean sitting on the counter for two days stale.
We did have a creme brulee (I know not very Italian) and this was decent. Not much sugar crust on top but it was the best thing we were brought so I'll just leave it there. It was fine
I looked at the reviews of this place, compared to the two other places we were visiting while in town and I was excited for authentic Italian cuisine - we didn't get it. Maybe everyone else does hence the positive reviews and it was just an off evening. It happens. Sadly we likely wont give it another shot, too many misses for us from start to finish especially when you have numerous other delicious options downtown.

We hear about it is good but I fund we arrive at.4.30pm they told us we shoud pay deposits for$25 per person. So I paid depositsand we hade seats in 7.30pm.and We wait for more than one hour and the food was served at 8:30pm.Every one was hungry. Is you paid deposits you should notice the waitress and let them redeem. Not recomend to eat here. The food not so good and serving size is small. Wait for a long time.If you have kids together I will recommend you to buy mountain mike pizza.

Mediocre food at best. Kind of disappointing. Service was fine and space was kitschy. Not worth the price.

Our family dinner here turned into such a great night. The kids loved their pasta plates and the adults enjoyed the depth of the flavors. Everything tasted freshly made and the atmosphere felt genuine and friendly.

Lovely homemade pasta, pretty great wines. Cute, tucked-away garden restaurant with decent Italian food. Decor is odd and could be improved but the vibe is neighborly, friendly, and welcoming. Lovely wait staff - efficient but very warm and funny.
We left late when the entire staff was already at their family meal and it did feel indeed like a family and instant community. Food was good - the sage butter tortellini were delicious if a bit too soft. Salads were fresh and delicious. Bolognese was good if not excellent. The wine was, however, excellent, helped by the selection of a Tuscan who served it.
All in all, a warm and vibey place with decent food in the heart of lovely Mendocino.

Calamari , great taste but portion size on the smaller side (no points deducted!)
Porchini , very unique flavor!
Spaghetti , serviceable, decently executed but nothing to write home about. It was also a bit too sweet for my personal taste.
Overall 4/5. It's a good restaurant and I would go back again.

We had the most wonderful 9th anniversary dinner at Luna Trattoria! The carbonara and linguini with clams were absolutely fabulous — rich, fresh, and perfectly cooked. The owner personally brought our dishes to the table and chatted with us about the wine, which made the evening feel extra special. The atmosphere is cozy and romantic, a little tucked-away gem in Mendocino. And the tiramisu? Divine. We’ll absolutely be back the next time we’re in town!

The pasta's were relatively good, far from the best but the experience was quite nice outdoors, there were heaters and lights and such, but everything else was quite horrible. The water tasted like soap, we had to ask for water refills, my partner and I both felt sick after dinner, our waitress FORGOT about our table and the entire restaurant had cleared as we waited for our bill, and we found her drinking and eating with other staff inside as she laughed about forgetting our bill and didn't even apologize. The restaurant had not even been closed for 10 minutes, and we waited well over 20 minutes for from the time we finished eating, the bussers had put away the chairs turned off all of the heaters put everything away, and started to turn the lights off as we asked if we could pay our bill. The appetizers felt as if they were frozen and defrosted, our food was served practically cold, and for $120+ tab, this was unacceptable. WE both understand, as former food and alcohol service workers, bad nights but this was unlike any other, it was not overly busy by any means, had she not been drinking and eating while we were waiting and asking for her, and been WORKING even just 15 minutes before they closed we wouldn't have been upset but understanding of the situation.

We went to this restaurant two nights in a row while we were in Mendocino. Both times we were a walk-in so sat upstairs but the garden looked wonderful and so much more inviting so I would recommend booking in advance for a table there. The food was delicious - we tried stuffed mushrooms, pasta with sausage and mushrooms sauce, lasagne, meatballs and chicken parmigiana. The staff were kind and made sure we had a good evening on both nights. Highly recommend.
