“We ordered this Pizza Hut box for a chill dinner night, and honestly, it was a good amount of food for the price. The pizzas were solid — the pepperoni was definitely the favorite. The mushroom one was okay, not my thing personally, but my husband liked it.
The breadsticks were soft and buttery, super kid-friendly, and they disappeared fast. The only miss for us was the pasta. None of us really liked the Alfredo sauce — it was kind of heavy and just didn’t taste great. My kids would’ve been way happier with plain pasta and a little cheese on top, something simple.
Overall, not bad for a quick family meal. Just probably wouldn’t order the pasta again.

“Hot, yummy, and always satisfying! We really loved Pizza Guys — especially the garlic roll appetizer. It was perfectly crispy with lots of garlic and cheese. The pizza is affordable, tasty, and reliable; we’ve been ordering from here even before moving to San Carlos. I’m excited to try more of their crust and sauce options next time. This location also offers vegan cheese, which we really appreciate. The owner is kind, the workers are humble, and the service is consistently good. We also love their pickup deal — spend over $25 and you get a free drink or ice cream. After pizza, we decided to watch the calories and grabbed a giant bottle of water instead 😄 Super convenient and always a great experience.“

“I had a really enjoyable experience at State of Mind Public House and Pizzeria. The atmosphere was lively but still comfortable, making it a great place to sit down and relax with a meal. “Where do you go when you’ve watched too much kdramas and you start salivating when the characters stary drinking soju with fried chicken??? Vons!!! That’s where I go at least. It’s the only korean place I know that’s at least a 10 min walk from our place. It never fails to satisfy my craving… and when you get there, the big screen tv is always playing some kdrama. I do wish they had more variety with the diahea they offer but then again the simplicity of the menu is what makes the service quick.
Von’s is clean and a refreshing change from the usual chinese, japanese or mexican fare that’s quite common in the area.
Service is quick and staff are friendly. Owned and run by an actual korean - there you go! You can’t get anymore authentic than that!

“We came to Fire Wings on a lunch date . This was the best Wings I’ve had ever. Very Delicious, great price, we chose the family meal 3 choices of wings, 2 sides of dressing. And French Fries with Celery & Carrot Sticks, All Fresh for 35.99 plus tax $45.69. It was worth every penny bite and took a go bag home. I highly recommend Fire Wings San Mateo, CA.“

“Got a sampling if a bunch of things. Chicken was very good. Fish was good but a little under seasoned. Shrimp very good. Fries were crispy and flavorful. Mac and cheese was decent but not amazing. Collard greens were some of the best I've ever had. Banana pudding was delicious. Pecan oie was good, but hoped for amazing. Service was friendly qnd attentive. Would definitely return, many times.“

“This Papa John’s here goes above and beyond for people, especially their night crew. The manager will do anything and everything to make it right. Anna in the kitchen is an amazing cook. She takes her job very serious and make sure every pizza is done to perfection. not to mention how clean the store is when you’re there I would definitely have this pizza 🍕 more often and this is towards the nighttime crew and manager“

“I think Wing Stop is pretty amazing, I mean they took something.. just something so small and simple and basic.. as a chicken wing and they turned it into something extravagant! I really have to say I tip my hat to the creator of this Wing Stop.. the flavors are amazing, they have a pretty wide variety, if you want something sweet, if you want something kind of neutral, or if you want something with a bang and some bite with that spiciness.“

“This is the first review of 2025. I accidently ordered off the uber app from a whim. Until I read the reviews meanwhile my meal was in route. I think they changed the cook yall. Chicken was cooked well rice as well. Mac needs its home recipe for sure. Was the chicken hot? No it was warm. But I am very impressed by the improvement. I won't be ordering again though. 😂😂😂😂“
“Pretty decent meal considering the price. Process was pretty smooth: ordered online, chilled for a bit and then headed over in around 20 minutes to pick up the order. No line and no hassle.Don't expect *amazing* wings. It's a $10 meal. Went a bit light on the sauce (tried the mango habanero or something) and the outside of the wings weren't that crisp. Still fairly meaty and of a decent size.Would order from them again if I'm craving something quick.“

“The place was dead and we weren't sure it was even open. I am super glad we walked in. The staff was very friendly they knew we were from out of town by our sports jerseys. They went above and beyond on the service. As we made our choices and waited for pies more people came in and many orders went out, carryout and uber eats/ doordash. The New York style pizza was one of if not the best I've ever had. The deep dish was very good but I would stick to the New York just because it was that much better. I would go out of my way to go here again. It is too bad they don't have a spot in Seattle-Tacoma area. I'd be there every week. Then again I probably don't need that, lol. “Tried this chicken spot for dinner with a couple friends and came away pretty impressed. The chicken was crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and had a really nice flavor without being overly greasy. The fries were fresh and hot, which is always a plus. Service was friendly and the food came out faster than I expected, even though the place was kinda busy. Prices felt fair for the portion sizes too. Not saying it's the best chicken I've ever had, but it's definitely a place I'd go back to when I'm craving some good comfort food.“

“Earlier this week on Sunday, I was craving some Korean fried Chicken, which I never had before. I did a search on Google and came across Bonchon in San Mateo. The first experience I had, I was not happy with my order because it was not accurate. I ordered an 8 piece, but only received a 4 piece and because it’s through a 3rd party nothing could be done. I decided on Monday I would order this time directly from the restaurant. Everything worked out, and I have to tell you even though my order was not right the first time? This did not take away from the quality of the food. I ordered the drumsticks extra crunch? No sauce, and the first time I ordered with fried rice, both were excellent. The seasoning, it was rich with flavor, and I have absolutely no complaints. The second time on Monday I ordered the same chicken a 4 piece, the corn with the mayonnaise, cheese and red pepper flakes, with a side of steamed rice. Everything was just perfect. I’m not kidding you it’s taking everything in me to control myself from ordering more today, and it’s just Tuesday. It’s just that good! Whoever the chefs are, you can taste the love in their cooking, it’s not just thrown together. There is Love in their food, and know this because my Mom’s food is just the same. Every bite is good. I don’t say these things lightly when it comes to restaurants. There’s not too many that impress me like this. All I can say is keep the love in your food, and don’t change the quality even if you have a million customers, don’t change your food. 5/5 for me, it’s a must try if you love fried chicken or Korean food. I don’t have pictures this time, maybe next time if I can upload I will. The chicken is so crunchy that even when it’s cold it’s still good and crunchy and not soggy. That is when you know food is good, when it gets cold and it’s just as good. Thank you so much for listening.“
“Best Deep Dish Pizza in Sunnyvale!! 12/10, +2 for the fresh ricotta and hot honey add ins, beers on tap, great new layout (a tasteful edit from previous Slice of NY) with 4 TV's (all with the world cup soccer games on!) and pizza slices available. Would love some more craft beers like Bare Bottle and Humble Sea, but that is me asking for my favorites.... this SOH location is next level for pizza!! “We ordered a takeout meal, so can't really attest to the eat in experience. Ordered soy garlic and kbbq wings and drumstick. Enough chicken for 3 people, if not four. Plus if you make rice or veggies at home it could for sure turn into a great full meal. Chicken had a good crunch to it, though I wish the flavors were stronger.“

“I really like the food at Popeyes; I travel a long way to come to this restaurant because my food is always fresh. The young woman who works in the mornings is always very cheerful and friendly toward me (I’ve been coming here since she first started as a cashier—I remember it well—and from what I’ve seen, she is now a manager). “Mountain Mike’s – Menlo Park’s Certified Slice of Nostalgia
Welcome back to another episode of Local Eats For People Who Know Better, and today’s star is none other than Mountain Mike’s in Menlo Park. A Bay Area staple. The kind of spot that doesn’t need to reinvent itself every three years. No sourdough crust, no “Neapolitan-style artisan fire-kissed flatbread.” Just heat, cheese, carbs, and memories from a simpler, pre-smartphone era.
Before you even walk inside, the aroma creeping across that Main Street intersection hits you with the force of a Chuck E. Cheese pizza siren. A primal call. A scent that grabs your childhood by the collar and drags it out of hiding. By the time you pull the door open, you’re already halfway transported to 1998, seatbelt optional.
Inside, nothing tries to impress you—and that’s exactly why it slaps. No animatronic rodents. No LED menus. No QR-code ordering labyrinth with a “20 percent tip for literally handing you a cup” prompt. This place is a preserved time capsule: warm, chaotic, stubborn, and beautifully unfancy.
We pulled up on a Thursday and ordered a large cheese pizza with jalapeños to split like joint custody. Bless the pizza gods, because it just so happened to be half-off large pizza night. Destiny. Fate. Providence. Whatever it was, we didn’t question it.
We wandered into the arcade corner to kill some time, and the lineup is exactly what you’d expect from a place running on pure tradition. A graveyard of mostly fighting games, modded cabinets held together by prayer, controllers drifting harder than a 1994 Civic on bald tires. Street Fighter Turbo, MK1/Trilogy, NFL Blitz, Golden Tee, X-Men 4-player, Deer Hunt. Free play, baby. Calibrate your expectations… because the joysticks definitely aren’t calibrated.
Slightly charred bottom, yeast-forward crust, cheese melted into a perfect golden blanket, jalapeños sprinkled with the kind of confidence only a seasoned pizza vet possesses. Whoever was working back-of-house that Thursday deserves a medal. The pizza did what pizza is supposed to do: slap.
The front-of-house team held it down too. Two cashiers greeting customers with actual warmth instead of that dead-behind-the-eyes “I hate my job and everyone in this building” retail energy we’ve all survived. Hospitality wasn’t forced. Smiles weren’t fake. Management clearly runs a disciplined ship, and everyone—from the register to the oven—pulled their weight.
Overall? I’d take a fresh, steamy slice from Mike’s over Round Table next door any day of the week. Between the nostalgia, the customer service, the arcade lineup held together with duct tape, and the old-school Menlo Park charm, this spot still honors tradition in all the right ways.
There’s nothing more American than inhaling a cheese or pepperoni slice while chugging a Mountain Dew, wondering where your life went wrong and also feeling comforted at the same time.
It is your constitutional right to bear pizza.
And Mountain Mike’s Menlo Park is still out here defending that right with pride.“
