Nice upscale izakaya. Recommend chicken wing , chawanmushi, shabu and chicken meatball. The rest is up to your preference.

My first visit here. Had a Sapporo Super dry, two skewers of the chicken (one had scallions which i preferred) , one skewer each of the Pork Cheeks and Wagyu Beef which I liked the best. Also tried the chicken meatball with the marinated egg yolk which was highly recommended by our server but I did not care for. Will come back again to try some of the sushi and the udon dishes . Parking is limited so we parked next door

The yakitori is average, but the price is quite high—definitely overpriced. The same goes for the wagyu sukiyaki. However, the service is nice, and the ambiance is excellent.

Have been back for a few times to try different things on the menu, I will let the pictures speak for themselves! They serves fresh, high-quality sushi and delicious skewers in a relaxing atmosphere. Attentive service and variety of sake selection. Highly recommend for a special night out!

I enjoyed most of my food. They are very tasty and fine. The only thing I didn't like was their sushi nigiri. They came with soy sauce and wasabi already marinated into the fish and the rice. Since I usually only take sushi with just a little bit amount of soy sauce and wasabi, their version is almost too salty for me, especially the sushi rice. They told me the sushi was prepared by a Michelin chef, so maybe this was the chef's choice? Anyway, I would suggest give back the liberty of adding wasabi and soy sauce to the customers.

We frequent Drunken Monk when we are looking for authentic Japanese Izakaya dishes. The sashimi is fresh and fish is flown from Japan.
Enjoyed the chu toro, scallop carpaccio, chawanmushi, and other varieties of fish.
Friends enjoyed the Wagyu.
Their dishes are slightly on the pricier side which can be expected of authentic Japanese cuisine on the peninsula.
Celebrated my dad’s birthday here. Service was great and food was excellent. Both skewered and nigiri were delicious. Don’t forget their exclusive sake as well. We had a good time. Highly recommended.

Extremely overpriced.
Food is overall mediocre, doesn’t taste like authentic Japanese food. Yakitori is overcooked.
Parking is very limited.

Extremely overpriced. Doesn’t deserve the hype at all. Slow service during lunch time and many items were unavailable

We celebrated a friend's bday. The food and service was great. Very tasty. But I agree with some of the lower reviews that it's really overpriced. Like really over priced. I can still get high quality sushi at a reasonable price elsewhere. Please review the menu before you go. I wouldn't come back again. It was definitely a one time experience. I would not come here hungry. It might be a good social place where you grab snacks and a beer to meet up.

Really mixed feelings about this place, and it's disappointing after seeing so much hype!
FOOD ?: The sukiyaki is of okay quality, but to be honest the broths lacked a depth of flavor compared to others I've had. The meat is alright, but I've seen some pre-prepared options at H-mart with more marbling. We also ordered a starter mix of some vegetables but nothing notable for the price.
DRINKS ?: I did like the drinks, their cocktails were interesting and fun. There's a yuzu-esque soda that I definitely reccomend.
PRICE ?: I think it's incredibly overpriced for what you're getting. Presentation is stunning but the quality of the food doesn't justify a $100+ bill, even in the Bay Area. I've paid for high quality meats at k-bbqs but this wasn't the same standard.
EXPERIENCE ?: The interior is cute, dim lighting with minimal deco. You must make a reservation in advance with Yelp. Service was quite slow and I did feel that we were being rushed at some points.
Perhaps this is best saved as a happy hour spot or a short trip for drinks and some karaage. I wouldn't be returning for anything else.
