We had no idea about this hidden little gem. Food took a while, but was worth the wait! Honey had the shrimp Po' Boy and I had the Monte Cristo. Our meal came in at $36 and was worth every penny. We will definitely be back!!

This place is legit! We had no idea about this hidden little gem. I had the Monte Cristo and honey had the shrimp Po' Boy. Our dinner came in at $34 and was worth every penny. We'll definitely be back!!

I ordered takeout barbecue ribs and potato salad for a dinner with friends tonight. The food was ready on time and securely packaged. They provided extra of their yummy barbecue sauce on request. Everything was delicious.

I would give it 0 but I had high hopes for this place everything I got which was Gumbo(Nasty clumpy not like the soup kind I'm used to sadly taste like canned gumbo, (greens were salty BBQ sauce way to sweet, and yams, dried up no flavor and the tall Mason jar tea taste like faucet water sweet tea will not go back I'm highly disapointed. Only thing that tasted okay was the ribs

Very homely place to spend the afternoon. My friend and I visited this restaurant for the first time yesterday and had some great appetizers. The staff is very friendly and the gentlemen who seated us is hilarious!

Nice place for southern cajun style food. Prices are a little steep but the food is good.

If you're passing through Merced you can't miss this place! The best of Cajun and soul food. Cool atmosphere, very friendly staff, and some of the best Southern food I've ever eaten. Friendly to all. Give it a try!

All cajun food is delicious here! (blackened cat fish/chicken, red beans and rice, alligator, etouffee, fried okra, etc....)Sweet potato fries are their own recipe and ask for the marshmallow sauce for them (sweet treat not on menu!)

I finally had the opportunity to eat at The Joy of the South; I was told its delicious and well worth it. I can honestly say I was super disappointed. I've had southern cooked food and I felt like all the food was off and didn't hit its southern mark.Cons-Hush puppies were burnt and had no flavor-Usually southern people make SWEET SWEET tea and the tea was lightly sweetened-Ribs had no flavor-Corn bread was burnt on the outside but delicious in the insideAlso I'm not who she was but nice elderly lady at first and my kiddo was making a mess and I guess it got in the lady's nerves cause a few remarks were made along with dirty looks on the floor. Of course my kid makes a mess he is 1 years old and I always leave an extra tip to the waitress for the inconvenience.Pros-waitress was super sweet and on her toes-serving size portions were great- the tri tip had a nice smoke to it-alligator tail tasted amazing- the fish had amazing tenderness and flavorI will be trying this place 1 more time but will be ordering different things. I'd like to think today was just an off day cause like I said everyone boost about it.I will be trying indian tacos and Rosie's chili dogs next.

The food was everything I was hoping it would be. I loved the pulled pork po'boy and the hush puppies were amazing. I can't wait to eat here again!
